Chapter 29 Herfarbuis
Chapter 29 Her tantrums
Perhaps she should suggest using Renee’s own clothes from the wardrobe, but she decided against it, assuming it might be a romantic pestine between thein.
Marcelo’s black shirt hung on Renee like an oversized dress her injured knee and lower leg exposed, creating at striking contrast with the dark fabric.
Marcelo watched, his expression hardening
A bath towel would have been more appropriate.
Before the doctor entered, the maid cautioned him not to look around too much. However, human curiosity often prevails.
Inadvertently, the doctor glanced at Rence, immediately drawing a stern warning from Marcelo. “Care to keep your eyes?”
It was a threat.
“I’m sorry, Mr. King!” The doctor quickly averted his gaze, apologizing.
In his profession, patients were seen without gender bias.
“Is Mrs. King’s injury only on her knee?” he inquired, carefully removing the bandage.
“Yes,” Marcelo confirmed, having previously checked.
Renee’s main issue now was intoxication.
As the bandage came off, the severity of the wound was apparent. The prolonged soaking had worsened its appearance.
The doctor began his treatment.
“Ouch!” At the touch, Renee woke up, reacting sharply to the pain and instinctively pulling away. “Don’t move!” Marcelo firmly held her shoulder, steadying her.
“Mrs. King, it’s crucial to treat this properly to prevent infection,” the doctor tried to reassure her.
“I can’t stand it! It’s too painful!” Renee protested, writhing in discomfort.
As she spoke, her legs curled up, and she involuntarily leaned closer into Marcelo’s hold.
“Renee, stay still!“Marcelo’s could feel her clinging to his chest.
With Renee draped in only his shirt, the thin fabric barely separating their skin,Marcelo’s awareness of her body against his intensified.
A subtle desire spread within him.
“No… it hurts! Staying still doesn’t help! It hurts! You lied to me!” Her tears began to flow as the doctor touched her wound with crumpled gauze.
Marcelo had thought she might be exaggerating, but looking down, he saw genuine tears streaming down her face, marring her usually perfect features.
Was she actually crying?
Were they tears of sadness?

She did seem rather pitiful.
“Stop! It’s too painful… It’ll be fine! It’ll heal on its own! No more treatment, please!”
Renee, who had endured the afternoon’s treatment in silence, now sobbed and protested. Attempting to push a
doctor away, she nearly tumbled off the bed.
“Renee!” Marcelo caught her swiftly, holding her firmly. “Don’t move!”
“You’re scolding me?” Her disbelief was evident, her voice tinged with accusation. “You’re angry at me.“She
wailed.
Marcelo was at a loss for words, sighing deeply.
When had he scolded her?
His voice might have raised in urgency, but that was all.
Frustrated, he wondered if he shouldn’t reprimand her given her current drunken state.
Not receiving an immediate response, Renee confronted him. “What right do you have to scold me?”
“I’m your husband!” He retorted, teeth clenched.
Engaging with someone intoxicated was proving to be a test of his patience.
“My husband?” Renee pondered, then confidently declared, “No, you’re not! You’re a jerk! Ouch!” Distracted by their exchange,Renee winced as the doctor, perhaps startled by her outburst, applied a bit more pressure to her wound.
At that moment, the doctor felt Marcelo’s icy stare.
His expression darkened as he issued a stern warning. “If you can’t apply medicine properly, you shouldn’t be a doctor.”
“I am being careful… I mean, I apologize! I’ll be more gentle!” The doctor hastily adjusted his approach, acutely aware of the gravity of treating even a superficial wound under Marcelo’s scrutiny.
Astounding revelation! Mrs. King called Mr. King a jerk! Strangely, he was unfazed!
Was the recent gossip about their strained relationship inaccurate?
“The wound’s fine! Stop, don’t touch me! It hurts!” Renee hugging her legs, adamantly refused further treatment. Pain was no longer something she was willing to tolerate.
“If it’s hurting, the wound is still healing,” Marcelo responded coolly.
Renee’s pout conveyed a sense of genuine grievance, as if Marcelo’s sternness had wounded her. Seeing Renee in this state–resistant and tearful Marcelo was taken aback
–
He hadn’t anticipated her becoming so unmanageable when intoxicated.
The doctor, hesitating to disobey Marcelo’s directive but wary of Renee’s distress, refrained from further action.
“Mr. King, perhaps you could… persuade Mrs. King to cooperate?” the doctor suggested tentatively.
Persuade her?
This was unfamiliar territory for Marcelo.
After a brief pause, he attempted a different approach. “Renee, if you cooperate with the doctor, I’ll buy you a

He recalled Jason’s advice about women: “Handbags can cure all a woman’s allments. And if one doesn’t do the trick, just get another.”
Rence, still somewhat inebriated, gazed at Marcelo with a dazed yet attentive look, clearly hanging on his words,
Marcelo had mentally resolved to instruct Luke to purchase ten Hermes bags the next day,
But unexpectedly, Renee cupped his face with her soft hands, her eyes brightening.
“I don’t want a bag; I want…” Her voice lifted joyously. “Ho chocolate!”
Marcelo was momentarily taken aback by her simple request. What?
“With toppings,” She emphasized seriously, “Toppings are essential!”
Marcelo, aware of Renee’s coffee–making skills, was surprised that her drunken fixation was on hot chocolate.
Was this really Renee?
“Don’t you agree?” She became wary when Marcelo didn’t immediately respond, suspecting he might renege on his promise. “If you don’t agree, I won’t get treated! I won’t! You’re a liar!”
Marcelo responded with a cold scoff.
He thought briefly of refusing, as it wasn’t his leg at stake.
But then, he acquiesced, “Okay.”
“Okay?” Renee, still under the influence, waited for him to elaborate.
Marcelo’s expression remained stoic, almost intimidating. “I will get you that hot chocolate,” he conceded.
Renee’s face lit up with a satisfied smile. Suddenly, she leaned forward.
“Love you!”
She planted a swift kiss on his lips!
The maid, observing this, nearly dropped the tray in surprise.
Renee’s whimsical actions were typical of someone inebriated, devoid of logic.
“You kissed me earlier, so now we’re even!”
After her declaration, Renee turned her attention away from Marcelo, sitting still to allow the doctor to continue.
She winced in pain, her expression reflecting a profound sense of grievance.
Marcelo, momentarily taken aback, quickly regained his composure as if the kiss hadn’t fazed him. Yet, to an observant eye, his gaze had deepened, conveying an intensity akin to a dormant beast. Underneath his calm exterior, he seemed ready to pounce, displaying a predatory nature hidden beneath his controlled demeanor. “Alright, Mr. King. Please ensure Mrs. King wound doesn’t get wet again,” the doctor advised after completing the treatment, visibly relieved yet sweating from the tension.
This simple procedure had felt more daunting than a high–stakes surgery!
Marcelo’s gaze shifted to the doctor and the maid. “Be careful with what you say.
“Of course!” They both nodded quickly, understanding the importance of discretion.

They had no intention of spreading the day’s events such gossip was forgotten as soon as they left the room.
Renee, slightly dazed from her inebriation, remained seated on the bed, sleepiness tugging at her. Yet, she managed a sleepy “Hey! Bye” to the departing doctor and thaid, her smile gentle and unguarded.
The maid instinctively clutched her chest, struck by the contrast.
Renee, typically the epitome of poise and elegance, transformed under the influence of alcohol… She was incredibly charming!
God! Who could possibly resist such allure?
It was no surprise that Marcelo appeared so accommodating with her.
Renee then turned to Marcelo, puzzled as to why he hadn’t left.
“Bye!” She waved at him too.
Marcelo almost found humor in her state.
Gently holding her face, he gazed deeply into her eyes, then down at her flushed lips.
“Renée, you’re mistaken.”
What had she misunderstood?
Confused, Renee tried to focus, her mind muddled by alcohol.
Marcelo clarified, “That kiss, we settled before. But now, you’ve given me another one.”
Her expression shifted to bewilderment. “Really? But I thought…”
Her eyes widened in shock.
Marcel lowered his head and kissed her deeply.
