Chapter 38
Vince turned Amelia’s face toward him. “So? Are you satisfied with my answer?”
She couldn’t answer, nor did she know how to answer. All she knew was that she had complicated and conflicted feelings.
When it came to feelings, she had distinct principles. She either had or didn’t have feelings for someone; that was it. She never played coy.
She didn’t have many stories in relationships. Back then, she fell in love with Theo, so she married him and gave him the greatest help in his career wholeheartedly.
Later, when he betrayed her, she left without any hesitation.
To put it simply, she was very straightforward in this regard.
So, she didn’t understand what Vince meant by being forced to get engaged due to the circumstances. To her, this explanation was so unclear, which sounded like endless trouble.
Plus, she remembered the confident look on Sierra’s face when they had the conversation.
Her gut told her there was more to it between Sierra and Vince than he put it
Seeing her distracted, Vince reached out, pinched her chin, and lifted her face.
“Amelia, I’m very careful when it comes to relationships, and I know what’s important. I know you’re the same.
“If I have feelings for someone, I will stick to my choice. I’ll never fall for someone else. So, don’t be afraid when I approach you,” he said, his voice hoarse and affectionate.
In the adult world, one look or one suggestive sentence was already enough to convey all the information.
Amelia subconsciously wanted to hide, but he was still holding her in his arms.
She whispered. “I’m sleepy. I want to go back to sleep.”
He suddenly leaned down, rested his chin on her shoulder, and whispered in her ear, “It was my twenty–eighth birthday yesterday, and you stood me up. You’ve got to make it up to me. Have another meal with me.”
He seemed so stubborn as if he wouldn’t let go unless she agreed, so she had to compromise, “Alright. I think I have time tomorrow afternoon.”
He said, “Let’s go to that restaurant yesterday. I’ll pick you up at 5 p.m. tomorrow,”
“OK,” she said.
He was finally satisfied. He let go of her and ruffled her hair. “Good night. See you tomorrow afternoon.”
Amelia’s heart was pounding, she still couldn’t calm down after she unlocked her door and returned home
How did she feel right now? She couldn’t say. Perhaps she was a bit nervous, excited, and worried.
She went straight to bed. When she woke up the next day, her nervousness and excitement were gone; she was simply worried.
There seemed to be two voices arguing in her mind; the rational one told her that Vince’s situation was complicated, and he wasn’t the right one for her. As she had just gotten out of an abyss, she needed to be more cautious than ever.
Yet the sensible one told her she shouldn’t lie to herself. Life was short; letting go of the person who was possibly her true love would be a lifelong
repet.
After struggling for a whole half day, she slowly went out at nearly 5 p. and waited for Vince in the garden downstairs.
Soon, it was 3:10 pm, and he was still nowhere to be seen
She was about to call him when a pair of shiny leather shoes entered her sight.
She looked up and saw Theo standing in front of her.
He smiled, his eye flickering, “Amelia, you seem so pretty. Why are you all dressed up! Are you waiting for someone!”
“None of your fucking business,” she swore at him and turned away.

To her surprise, he actually chased after her.
She sped up, trying her best to escape.
But he was fast and quickly caught up. Then he reached out and grabbed her hair.
She cried out in pain, meanwhile, he grabbed her, lifted her up, and put her in the car not far away.
His movements were so swift that before passers–by could react and lend a helping hand, the car had already sped away.
Instantly, a cold sweat broke out on Amelia’s back.
She never thought that Theo would dare to kidnap her in broad daylight
She tried to open the car door and jump out, but Theo grabbed her.
His eyes were fierce, and his voice was cold and piercing. “Amelia, we are still going through paper works. We aren’t really divorced. Whatever I do to you is legal.”
