Chapter 33
“Ring, ring, ring”
The next morning Amelia was waken up by her phone. Sunlight had shone into the room.
Amelia answered her phone with a still sleepy head, “Hello?”
“Amelia, how are you? What happened last night? Did you drink a lot?”
What happened last night? Amelia repeated the question in her mind. The next second she was wide awake and sat up straight on her bed. Iler head ached, and her memories started to flow into her head.
店
She remembered attending the Eponix Group’s banquet, finding something wrong with the wine halfway, running to the restroom and being followed by two men. But the rest was beyond her recollection
Sharon continued, “When you called me, I was having a meeting. So I messaged Vince to pick you up. Did he send you home after that?”
Yes, he did. Amelia muttered hesitantly.
“Okay, that’s great. You can continue to sleep now.”
Sharon hung up the phone, but Amelia could not sleep anymore. She was more sober than ever.
Rising from the bed, she studied the room she was in with curiosity. It was completely strange to her.
Her night gown had been changed into pajamas. When she looked at her feet, she found band–aids applied to the heel ulcers on
her ankles.
When she pulled open door, a chubby white cat walked in and strode towards her. Amelia squatted down and stroked it. The fur was soft, warm,
and as smooth as silk.
“Beanie, come over. It’s breakfast time
The words seemed intelligible to the car, who immediately jumped out of Amelia’s arms and walked downstairs.
When it saw Vince, it stopped and waited quietly to be fed.
Vince looked quite different today. He wore a pink apron, his sleeves picked up, arms akimbo, eyes set on the kitten that was eating.
He always had the look of a social elite. Amelia was surprised to see him in so different a look.
“Good morning. I’m going to cook breakfast. You can wash up first. Vince smiled and pointed to the bathroom on the right.
There was newly prepared toothbrush and towel on the washstand.
Amelia looked around. Neither the interior design nor the display of items had any trace of a woman. Even all the items in the bathroom are single serving.
She wondered if Vince really had a fiancée.
When she washed up, the fragrance of food had wasted into the living room.
Vince walked out of the kitchen and handed her a glass of orange juice. “Drink this first. It helps rehydrate the body”
Amelia didn’t look at him. She lowered her head and muttered hesitantly, “Did you, did you help me change my clothes?”
Vince smiled. “Sure”
Amelia blushed scarlet all over. She could not bear to lift up her eyes to meet his gaze until she heard Vince laughed.
“Actually I did not Vince explained, “you threw up. So I ordered house clean service and asked the cleaner to help you change into pajamas. Do you believe I changed your clothes?”
Amelia’s blush was lovely in his eyes. He could not help teasing her.
Amelia was relieved. She pursued, “I can’t recollect what happened. Did I do anything offending?”
Vince’s beamed. There was only the kiss. He didn’t think it offending.
9:30 AM
Chapter 33
When he thought of the kiss, the touch and feel became vivid in his mind again. He felt thrilled. But he didn’t intend to tell Amelia about it
“You slept very sound last night. Listen, Amelia, you must be careful when you’re in the Hartwell family’s place. Theo is narrow–minded and vengeful. He will retaliate against you. You must be careful”
Amelia nodded dejectedly. Theo was a haunting nightmare. It was so hard for her to get rid of him.
“Ding–dong”
Suddenly, the door bell rang. Vince had returned to the kitchen. So Amelia trotted over
When the door was opened, two people squeezed in and cheered.
“Surprise!”
“Happy birthday!”
Vince, happy birthday!”
The ribbons from the spray can floated over Amelia. She closed her eyes unconsciously and blocked them with her hands
When Sierra saw who it was, her expression tumed icy in an instant. She snapped,
“Why are you here?”
