Chapter 31
Jackson took away the documents. “Please wait for a while. After the shareholders‘ meeting is done, relevant files will be sent here for your signature”
The moment Jackson left and closed the door, Theo put on a different look.
“Look, Amelia,” he said disdainfully, “Don’t be too proud. Do you think Vince Hollow will make you happy? Do you think he will marry you! Dream on! He has engaged! You don’t know it, do you?”
I won’t waste time talking to you.” Amelia rejoined.
“Stop pretending! I don’t believe you don’t care. Vince Hollow was engaged a year ago. It was reported! You can verify it yourself. Theo laughed maliciously.
Amelia said nothing. Theo sounded so confident that for a while she could not think clearly, nor could she respond to his jeer.
Vince was engaged. The same words were repeated silently again and again in her mind and seemed unintelligible at first.
Yes, he was engaged. Why should I be surprised? He is outstanding in every way. It would have been strange if he was single,
We’re just friends. He pitied me and just wanted to thank me. Nothing. A kiss could mean nothing.
“We will never have anymore interactions.
Thinking of that, she suddenly fell very sad.
Seeing it, Theo stepped forward and continued smugly “You’re fooled, bitch. Do you think Vince can possibly fall for you? You made yourself. fool! You’re a divorced woman! A second hand shutt
It did work and rendered Amelia more silent.
She felt inferior. She was not loved and betrayed. She wondered if she was not good enough, that if she did not deserve to be loved as she had wondered countless times before.
But then reason managed to overwhelm sentimentality. She collected herself, lifted her head, and smiled.
Her voice was gentle and slow. “Do you think I care what you say? Are you so ridiculous to think that you can define mel
“Look at yourself. Once the shareholders meeting ends, everyone will know that you’re kicked out from the Eponix Group. Will any company take you in3 I’m so worried about you. Do you think you can possibly find a job?
“It’s true I’m divorced. But you’re, too, and even worse. You have no shares, ne job. Will Ivy still love you and be with you? That’s worth doubting. since she has approached you for your money and status. Now that you’re reduced to nothing. I’m afraid she’ll abort the baby and find another sugar daddy!”
Theo didn’t seem to believe his situation was that bad. He retorted, “Nonsense. I’m a man A man will not be less popular because of divorce. Ivy is not you! She doesn’t chase money as you do!”

Burst out laughing. “You’re right,” Amelia said with amusement. “I chase money. I’m materialistic. What can you do? I got your shares. I made you unable to inherit the group. It doesn’t feel good, does it?”
Her voice was most gentle, but to Theo, it was piercing-
They had been married for three years. They knew how to hurt each other most effectively.
Veins ripped over Theo’s livid face. His dignity hurt, his future ruined, his attack failing to humiliate his ex–wife, he was a loser.
Suddenly, there was applause at the door.
The shareholders‘ meeting had ended. Ryder heard the quarrel in the meeting room as soo
as soon as he approached them.
He clapped his hands while exclaiming, “Bravo, Miss Ellington. I totally agree with what you said,”
The staff around him also clapped their hands. As the new general manager, he took a good lead for his subordinates
This enraged Then. He clenched his fists and stomped out of the room, banging the door angrily.
Ryder’s eyes were rivered on Amelia the moment he entered the room. “We have an banquet this evening at seven. Will you come?”

“Sure.”
At seven o’clock, the Hyatte Hotel’s third floor was ready for the banquet.
The hall had floor–to–ceiling glasses on all sides. From the window, one could have a panoramic view. The faraway stars twinkled in the dark firmament, under which neon lights scattered among the city streets.
Amelia had delicate makeup and changed into a deep pink dress. When dim yellow light shed on her from overhead, her Grecian profile was set

The whole crowd was roused when she walked in.
Among laughter and talks, Victor walked slowly onto the stage.
He didn’t look very glad. Facing the crowd, be cleared his throat and spoke.
“Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. I’m here to announce that from today on Mr. Theo Hartwell will leave off his post as the general manager and also the company. While Miss Amelia Ellington will become our new shareholder.
As soon as he announced that, almost all the eyes were fixed on Amelia, some of which were curious, some disdainful.
Amelia accepted these prying gaze with composure.
