Chapter 6
With Mom taking care of me, I bounced back fast. Before long, I was working by her side as an assistant. Once I got the hang of things, I decided to start from the bottom and work my way up.
Within a year, I built a team and delivered impressive results. Turns out the domestic market was craving our products. Spending
so much time around Harvey actually paid off—I knew enough about the company’s resources to land a few deals.
As our domestic market grew, partnership offers started rolling in–even from Seinfeld Corp.
Mom’s reaction was ice–cold when she heard. Sure, teaming up with them would be good for business, but after everything I’d
been through, she couldn’t just brush it off for profit.
Right as she was about to turn them down, I stopped her.
“It’s fine. Working with Seinfeld Corp will help us expand. Harvey usually doesn’t deal with operations, anyway. I’m not letting
personal stuff mess up a good opportunity.”
She hesitated but finally agreed. I led the team back home and took charge of all the negotiations to keep things under control.
The night we signed the contract, one of the girls lit up with excitement.
“Leah, this is your win! Let’s celebrate–proper dinner to wrap up the trip!”
‘Didn’t want to kill the vibe, so I agreed.
I never expected Harvey–who hardly managed Seinfeld Corp anymore–to show up.
A few girls nearby were whispering.
“Isn’t that Harvey Seinfeld? The guy who lost his wife? I heard he was crazy in love with her. The funeral drama was everywhere.”
“Yeah, some woman tried to mess with him and even broke the urn. He had her locked up for six months–nearly drove her
insane.”
“I heard he showed up tonight because the head of the partnering company has the same name as his late wife. That’s just…
heartbreaking. Came all this way just because of a name.”
I frowned, completely caught off guard. I never thought something so small would give me away. I always knew I’d have to face
him again someday, but the thought made me feel sick.
One of my colleagues noticed how pale I looked.
“Leah, you okay? Let me take you back to the hotel.”
I just nodded, covering my mouth as I hurried outside. Right as I reached the entrance, a group of guys walked in, and I crashed straight into them. My heart stopped when I looked up–Harvey.
