When he announced that the company’s profits would go to Leah’s surviving family, Vivi snapped. She bolted onto the stage,
ripping the urn from his hands, screaming like a maniac.
“I won’t allow this! You promised I’d be your wife! Your family’s money and assets are mine! Take it back!”
Harvey just stared at her, drained and done. His voice was low but firm.
“I’ve said it–Leah is my only wife. Put her ashes down, or you’ll regret it.”
Vivi just shook her head, eyes wild with obsession.
“No! I spent years ruining that wretch! I even messed up my own legs to frame her! How could you fall for her tricks? I’m the one
you love! I’m the one who deserves it all!”
Harvey’s mind went blank. Next thing he knew, his hands were around Vivi’s throat. The crowd froze, shocked, just as Vivi
smashed the urn against his head. Ashes scattered everywhere.
The funeral erupted into chaos.
Meanwhile, I was having dinner with Mom at a restaurant. She kept glancing at my face, eyes soft with pity.
“Honey, you’ve suffered so much all these years. From now on, just stay with me and live well.”
I nodded.
After the kidnapping incident back then, Dad blamed everything on Mom. To make his mistress his legal wife, he forced Mom out
and cut off contact. She’d been fighting to reach me ever since–and now she finally had.
I wasn’t that weak girl anymore. I didn’t need a man to survive.
