A few days ago, I’d spent that exact amount on medication for Hansel. I’d gotten the money by selling my blood. Yet it turned out that his family’s factory was the one that produced the medication, and he’d thrown the pills onto the floor one after another. He’d stomped all over my heart.

Her hair had already gone white out of worry over my disappearance, and her nerves were frayed. Granny’s fainting spell was only making matters worse.
Mom dragged her heavy feet to the hospital ward and stood outside as she watched the nurses connect various fubes to Granny’s body. Tears streamed down her face.
Another nurse approached her and said, “This is the bill, Ms. Henderson. Please head to the counter to pay the deposit.”
Mom dried her tears and took the bill. She shut her eyes after glancing at it. The deposit would cost 20 thousand dollars!
I knew that even that was difficult for her to conjure. She was just an accountant in a regular company and earned less than 5,000 dollars a month. She needed to pay rent and utilities and get me through college. It was nearly impossible for her to set aside monthly savings, but she’d still scrimped and saved to get me through college. Things had only gotten slightly better after I’d graduated, yet here was another obstacle. She went to the counter and asked, “Can I pay ten thousand dollars for the deposit for now? I’ll think of a way to get the remainder tomorrow.”
“Sure.” The cashier didn’t make things hard for her.
After Mom paid, I saw that she only had less than 20 dollars left in her account. She sat on a bench, looking troubled.
I had no idea where she would get the money from, and my regret intensified. I wished I could turn back time to a few days ago so I could come back to life and get the money to save Granny.
It was too bad that there was nothing in this world that could help with regrets. I couldn’t go back to a few days ago, I could only return to Hansel’s side.
