Chapter 19
Cheryl had advised, “It will affect your relationship with Hansel if you tell him about it. Since nothing bad happened, we might as well avoid unnecessary conflicts. If this bothers him, and you lose this job, you’ll take forever to gather the money for his medication.”
Her words resonated with me. I could earn a lot from promoting liquor in the nightclub. In less than a year, I could earn enough to afford Hansel’s medication.
I hadn’t wanted to lose that job, so I kept that incident a secret. Besides, I clearly remembered him telling me that day that he was working at night. I’d been worried that letting him know about the incident would affect his safety on the road.
I thought only Cheryl and I knew about it. To my surprise, Hansel knew about it too.
But how did he find out?
Cheryl had the same thought. She asked, “How did you know what happened that day?”
Naturally, Hansel couldn’t be bothered to answer such an assertive question. He wanted to leave.
Cheryl extended her arms and stood in his way. Anxiously, she explained, “Hansel, since you’ve already known what happened to Elara on that day, you should know that nothing happened between her and that man.
“She was wary, so she informed me beforehand. I was already waiting for her at the hotel. The man didn’t manage to take advantage of her. She was untouched.”
Hansel smirked. “Are you trying to tell me that a woman who’s working in a nightclub is pure?”
Cheryl was stunned. She hastily pulled out her phone. “I recorded the whole thing when I ran in to help her. I can prove it to you that she’s pure.”
Hansel said nothing.
Cheryl started searching her phone gallery for the video.
That day, she had indeed recorded that man when she barged into the room as a precaution so he wouldn’t exact revenge on me. I didn’t expect that the recording would one day become evidence to prove my innocence to Hansel.
However, was it even necessary?
Hansel already knew that I drove that customer to the hotel so he’d definitely seen the surveillance images in the hotel. Although I entered the man’s room, it took Cheryl less than a minute to rescue me.
The surveillance footage would’ve shown him that.
In less than a minute, that man wouldn’t even have had the time to take off his pants. What could’ve possibly happened between us?
Nevertheless, Hansel insisted that I had done something wrong.
He didn’t trust me. Even if Cheryl showed him the video she recorded, it wouldn’t change his disdain toward me.
However, Cheryl was still desperately looking for the video as though she could prove my innocence once she found it.
I gazed at her, my heart aching. Her friendship brought a sense of warmth into my heart.
Alas, she couldn’t find the video. “I forgot I changed my phone. The video isn’t on this phone. But Hansel, Lara was only promoting liquor in the nightclub. She only took up that job so she could afford your medication. It paid

well.”
She continued trying to defend me. “Lara has done so much for you. Hansel, you can’t be so cruel-

Hansel was already scornful from the start when she failed to find the video. He coldly interrupted her, “Are you going to tell me next that she also sold her blood so she could afford my medication?”
Cheryl saw the mocking look on his face, and her eyes widened. She must not have expected him to be so cold. Stunned speechless for several moments, she eventually said, “She did…”
