If only my disappearance had been established as a criminal case, it would’ve greatly expedited the police’s investigation. They’d also be investigating the case in an entirely different direction compared to it being a missing person case. The police would’ve found my body in no time, and that would’ve led them to the criminals

However, Hansel persistently stopped that from happening

Why on earth would you do that?I yelled furiously, though no sound was actually emitted

Naturally, Hansel couldn’t sense my presence. He was still staring at Mom in silence, but his expression was icy cold. There was even this distinct profoundness in his gaze, denying anyone from guessing his thoughts from his expression alone

Jack saw my mother pasting posters of me, too. He hesitated, but eventually, he said softly, Mr. Frost, maybe something has really happened to Ms. Fairlight-”

A bad penny always turns up. She can’t be dead!Hansel interrupted him in a cold and determined tone. The frost in his voice sent shivers down my spine, and I trembled

I was dead! Hansel, I had already died! That bad pennyhe was referring to was no longer alive. How could he get in the way of the investigation just because he thought I wasn’t dead

1 yelled from the bottom of my heart. Anger raged within me, threatening to rip apart my fragile ghost

My helplessness and inferiority as someone from underprivileged origins were thoroughly accentuated in front of this highly influential man

Suddenly, I heard a low voice asking, Who’s this?”

My already limp ghost shuddered at his voice. It was familiar. He sounded like…

I immediately floated toward Mom

A tall, muscular man in a black shirt was standing beside her. A mask covered the lower half of his face. The cap he wore was tilted to the front, giving his eyes, hidden beneath its shadow, an eerie, frosty glint

My heart clenched, and I trembled. My murderer had the same harsh eyes

I could never forget such a pair of ruthless eyes

He was my murderer

He’d actually appeared. I must get him

I instinctively reached out to grab his shoulder, but my hand just passed right through his body

I then returned to my senses. I was dead. I was just a ghost who couldn’t attack anyone

Still, I was agitated at the sight of my murderer. I floated toward Mom, speaking anxiously. Mom, he’s my murderer! Catch him, quickly!”

However, Mom couldn’t hear me. She replied to that man, saying, She’s my daughter. Sir, have you seen her?”

My murderer studied my photo, the brim of his cap hiding the indifference in his eyes. No, I haven’t. I just thought she looked pretty. What happened to her?”

Mom was disappointed at his answer. Nevertheless, she politely answered, She’s been missing for six days. The police said they wouldn’t categorize it as a criminal case unless they found her body. I have no choice but to paste posters of her where she usually hangs out. I hope to find witnesses who could shed some light on her

whereabouts-

Before she could finish speaking, my murderer’s phone rang. He glanced at the number. It was one that he hadn’t saved as a contact. Then, he turned to leave

Mom wasn’t expecting a stranger to give her any information on my whereabouts. Rambling on, she continued slathering glue on the wall and putting up my posters

Meanwhile, I was on edge. Mom, my murderer was right before our very eyes. Putting up posters of me would mean nothing if we let him get away

But how would she know that

Restless, I had no choice but to go after my murderer
