Chapter 4
For some reason, Jasper felt a growing sense of unease. It was the same feeling that had surfaced the day Molly confronted
Selena.
Molly, noticing his distraction, pouted in dissatisfaction. “Mr. Brook, are you zoning out again? Thinking about your wife? If you
miss her so much, why don’t you just go see her? After all, it’s not like I matter to you.“.
Jasper snapped back to attention, shaking off the thought as baseless paranoia. They were on a cruise in the middle of the ocean.
Selena was on the deck watching the stars. There was no way she could leave.
The woman beneath him was captivating, and soon, Jasper lost himself in the moment.
By the time Jasper went to look for Selena, two hours had passed.
But the deck was empty.
Selena was nowhere to be found.
Jasper frowned, and that nagging sense of dread returned.
Maybe she had gone back to their room.
He hurried to their cabin, searching every corner inside and out, but there was no sign of her.
Jasper’s heart pounded wildly, his usual composure shattered by the rising panic that left him no time to think.
He grabbed the nearest person, asking if they’d seen Selena, but no one had.
“Selena! Selena!”
His voice echoed as desperation set in.
