Ginnie quickly put the phone down and helped Gray to the sofa.
“Why are you lecturing me when you’re not sleeping yourself?”
Gray smiled and patted her hair while pity shone in his eyes. “You’ll be receiving your arm surgery tomorrow, and I’m worried.
That’s why I can’t sleep.”
Ginnie’s vision blurred.
A month ago, the men Gray sent to fetch her brought her here. The ties they shared as a family made Ginnie hug this friendly old
man. They even shed a few tears together.
Later on, she learned from Gray that she had been kidnapped by an enemy of the family’s when she was still young, and by some
twist of fate, she ended up in Shaunterpolis.
Her parents fell into depression because of this and passed away, and Gray became her sole family.
After learning about her arm injury, he immediately gathered together all the famous doctors in Salisia to treat her.
Ginnie happily received consultation and opted for surgery while giving up on conservative treatment. The surgery was scheduled
for tomorrow.
She held onto Gray’s arm and comforted him, “Don’t worry, Grandpa. The doctors said that the chances of success are high.
Besides, you got Sirius to provide support. It’ll be fine.”
Gray patted her hand and nodded.
“That’s right. You’re a good person, so God will surely smile on you. You’ll definitely recover!”
The next morning, Sirius Xander, a family friend and Ginnie’s godbrother, came to pick Ginnie up to go to the hospital.
“Hello, Sirius!”
Ginnie came downstairs while wearing a white dress. She waved at Sirius as a greeting.
Even though she was dressed casually and did not wear makeup, Sirius was still stunned by her beauty, just like the first time he
had met her.
The Sullivan family and the Xander family were close friends. One month ago, Gray had suddenly contacted him for an emergency
and asked him to do everything he could to treat a certain woman’s arm.
After he had rushed back from a medical forum, he learned that the patient was Gray’s kidnapped granddaughter, who also
happened to be his fiancee.
At that time, Ginnie had just gone through her abortion and her betrayal. Due to being left untreated for three years, her arm had
also worsened, so Sirius’s heart bled for her.

He decided right then and there that he would save Ginnie, be it as her godbrother or her doctor.
The sight of Ginnie walking over toward him made Sirius smile. “Are you going to have the surgery today? Are you nervous?”
Ginnie shook her head. While it would be a lie to say that she was not nervous, she had also been crippled for three years, so she really could not afford to delay treatment any longer.
She wanted her arm to get better on the spot so that she could pick up a pen again.
Sirius said nothing else and just brought Ginnie to the hospital. Neither of them said a word throughout the journey.
Even though Ginnie had always only shared the good news of her consultations with Gray to show that she was relaxed, both she and Sirius knew her arm’s condition was complicated.
Even if Sirius was a genius doctor who had handled countless major surgeries before, he still only came up with a surgery plan for ‘Ginnie after going through more than ten meetings with other doctors.
The surgery was bound to be a tough battle.
When Ginnie changed into a hospital gown and lay on the operating table, she was so nervous that her palms started sweating.
Sirius’s clear voice sounded.
“Ginnie, the anesthetist is going to put you under. Are you ready?”
Ginnie looked up and met Sirius’s determined gaze, which was the only part of him that was exposed.
Suddenly, all her fear disappeared. Since Sirius promised that he would treat her, she believed in him.
“Let’s get started, Sirius.”
After nearly ten hours of surgery, the surgery was proclaimed a success, and Ginnie was safely wheeled out.
Even though the surgery–arguably the hardest part of her recovery–was over, Sirius was still worried. He chose to stay overnight in the hospital to keep watch over Ginnie’s condition.
At midnight, a nurse suddenly knocked on his door.
“Bad news, Dr. Xander, Miss Sullivan is rejecting the steel nails we put in her! Please check on her!”
