Chapter 38
“And who was the one who suddenly changed their mind about selling?”
Louis immediately caught her meaning.
After a brief pause, he said, “Fine. If you really pay in full, I’ll knock off two hundred thousand dollars.”
Laura practically bounced with excitement, shaking Adora’s arm.
“That’s amazing, Adora! Take the deal!”
Adora kept a cool expression, but inside, she was secretly pleased.
She hadn’t expected to shave off two hundred thousand dollars so easily.
Had she actually insulted him into seeing reason?
A sudden burst of conscience, perhaps?
With both sides reaching an agreement, they sat down to finalize the contract.
The agent was just as thrilled, running around to gather documents and guide them through the paperwork.
“We’ll head to the property office first thing Monday morning to finalize the transfer,” he said, practically beaming.
He just wanted to seal the deal as quickly as possible before any more surprises popped up.
After filling out the necessary forms, Adora extended her hand.
“Give me the keys. Also, show me the parking spaces–I’ll be using them right away.‘
Louis looked at her, momentarily caught off guard.
When the agent stepped out to grab the ink pad, he finally furrowed his brows and asked, “You’re buying a house and a car.
Where’s all this money coming from?”
Adora barely spared him a glance before snapping back, “None of your business.”
Louis‘ expression darkened instantly.
Laura nudged her arm again, subtly signaling for her to tone it down.
But Louis had already grown used to her attitude.
With a brief exhale, he looked away, choosing to act as if he’d never asked in the first place.
Once the paperwork was completed, the agent reminded them to be at the property office by nine on Monday morning for the official transfer.

After that, Louis was the first to leave.
As he slid into his ten–million–dollar hypercar, Adora tilted her head toward Laura and smirked. “Tell me, does your ‘perfect man‘ not look like an absolute sucker right now?”
Laura was speechless.
Adora sighed lightly. “People chase wealth for personal gain. And yet you talk about him like he’s some selfless hero. Tch, all I see is someone drowning in luxury,”
Otherwise, why would he be driving a car that costs more than some mansions?
Inside the Koenigsegg, just as Louis was pulling out of the parking space, his sharp gaze Instinctively flicked toward the two women standing outside.
For some reason, he had a distinct feeling that Adora was talking about him again.
His expression turned icy, his eyes sweeping over her like a blade.
Adora refused to back down, meeting Louis‘ gaze head–on.
Once he was gone, the agent took Adora on a final walkthrough of the penthouse, also showing her the assigned parking spaces in the underground garage.
Afterward, the agent left, leaving Adora and Laura alone to explore the luxury duplex.
Excitement bubbled between them as they wandered through the space, checking out every corner.
“Laura, how’s your dorm situation? If it’s not comfortable, move in here. This room is yours.”
Adora pushed open the door to a spacious ensuite bedroom on the second floor, speaking with casual generosity.
Laura walked over, her eyes lighting up. “Are you serious? But… I can’t afford rent.”
“What nonsense. You really think I’d charge you?” Adora scoffed.
“This place is huge. It’d be boring living here alone–move in.”
She meant it.
They were planning to go into business together in the future, and living under the same roof would only make things easier.
Laura hesitated before asking, “When are you moving in?”
Adora sighed. “Not sure. Probably when the Matthews family, finally kicks me out for good.”
She knew it was only a matter of time.
Her family spent every day plotting new ways to push her out.

Ruby would stop at nothing to get rid of her.
Maybe one day, when she finally had enough, she’d cause a scene, cut ties completely, and leave that place for good.
But that was the house she had grown up in–the home that held all her happiest childhood memories.
The thought of severing that connection for good still hurt more than she wanted to admit.
Laura noticed the shift in her mood and reached out, giving her a reassuring pat. “No matter what happens, you’ve got me. We’ll always be best friends.”
Adora’s lips curled into a smile. “Deal. But even if you get a man in the future, you’re not allowed to ditch
me.”
