After Jake caused such a scene, I was too embarrassed to stay any longer.
I left the venue with Zane, We wandered around the area for a little.
“Why did you show up all of a sudden without giving me a call?”
Zane held my hand. I saw my reflection in his eyes.
“I missed you, so I came to see you.”
We spent the entire day together, but in the afternoon, I received a call from my brother.
“Lily, you need to come to the hospital. Jake, that idiot, jumped into the freezing water to search for the ring. He was in there for
hours. We couldn’t get him to stop, and now he’s in the ER. Can you come and see him?”
I frowned and asked, “Is he awake?”
“Yes, he’s awake. Here, talk to him.”
There was silence on the other end of the line for a few seconds before I heard Jake’s voice.
“Lily, I found the ring. Will you…”
I cut him off with a cold tone. “Jake, do you think you’re still a young man? What are you trying to prove with all this drama? We
broke up a long time ago. Stop bothering me!”
Without waiting for a response, I hung up.
Late affection was even more worthless than dirt.
It was not worth holding onto, not even for a inoment.
Zane, however, was not happy about Jake proposing to me. After we got back, he immediately had the entire villa decorated.
Every possible surface was covered with red roses.
I had to say, it was a little cheesy, but I really loved it.
Three months after his proposal, we were ready to get married.
On my wedding day, Jake sent me a gift through someone.
I opened the box to find a unique brooch, one I had once loved and begged him to buy for me.
However, Jake never bought it. He had just stood there and watched as I stared at it with excitement.
