CHAPTER 58
ARIA’S POV
Adam shouldn’t think for a moment that I’m eager to work with him or that his “congratulations” have any impact on me. The
truth is, I’m infuriated that he gets to be part of the same project.
It’s infuriating, especially since he has always been aware of how much I’ve longed to work with Wellington Enterprises. The fact that he now gets to share in this opportunity feels like a cruel twist of fate, and it’s hard to mask my frustration. He knows exactly how much this means to me, and yet here we are, forced to collaborate.
Never mind. I take a deep breath and turn my thoughts to my evening attire. With my wardrobe now filled with sumptuous cocktail dresses, there’s no need for any last–minute shopping trips, Stella has been designing exquisite clothes for me for various occasions, ensuring that I always have the perfect outfit ready. The thought of wearing one of her creations tonight helps
me refocus and calm down.
I come across a tailored sheath dress in a deep emerald green. The dress features a fitted silhouette that accentuates my figure, with a modest V–neckline and elegant cap sleeves. The fabric is a luxurious silk blend, providing a subtle sheen that catches the light beautifully.
Perfect for the evening.
To complement the dress, I match it with a pair of sleek, nude patent leather pumps that add height without detracting from the ensemble’s sophistication. I accessorize with a delicate gold pendant necklace and matching earrings, adding a touch of elegance without overwhelming the look. A slim gold bracelet graces my wrist, and I carry a chic, black leather clutch with gold accents.
I style my hair in soft waves, cascading over my shoulders, and my makeup is refined, featuring a classic cat–eye eyeliner and a bold red lip for a pop of color. This ensemble ensures both professional and glamorous looks, which will I am sure make a lasting impression at any business event.
When I arrive, the room is filled with executives; lovely ladies in elegant attire and classy gentlemen in sharp suits. As I scan the room, I spot Clark engaged in conversation with Adam. I realize that if I don’t approach Clark to greet him, it will come off as
rude.
With a composed demeanor, I make my way towards them, determined to maintain professionalism despite the circumstances,
“Hello, gentlemen.”
Yeah, I’ve got class! I’m going to act completely normal and not let Adam’s presence affect me in any way. Both Adam and C turn their gaze towards me, greeting me warmly. I return their greetings with a confident smile, determined to maintain my composure and professionalism.
I thank Clark for the invitation and Lcompliment him on the arrangements and setting. He smiles gladly.
We are served drinks by the waiter and we speak about the project in brief. However, to my shock, Clark starts getting personal. It

seems that he is doing his best to bring Adam and I together.
“Why don’t you both head to the dancefloor?”
Is he serious? Dance with Adam? Just as I’m about to refuse, Clark brings up our marriage. He urges with a knowing smile.
“Come on, don’t be shy, Didn’t you two share a wedding dance before?”
Little does he know that there was no wedding for us. It was just a legal contract signed and that was it; no wedding bells, no
wedding gown, no happiness, just a void
I shake my head thinking that Clark got it all wrong about Adam. This Adam here will never dance with such a “‘lowly‘ wife as me.
Moreover, I am no longer his wife.
“We’re divorced. ”
I have to remind Clark.
“Then, it’s the time to prove that you have no feelings for him.”
Clark is getting on my nerves and now I am regretting this partnership. It looks like they are both trying to set me up.
Feeling challenged by Clark’s remark, I accept without hesitation. I’m determined to prove to both of them that Adam is
inconsequential in my life. With resolve, we make our way to the dance floor.
To my astonishment, as the music begins and we start dancing, Adam becomes unusually intimate. His closeness catches me off
guard, sending a ripple of discomfort through me. Despite my efforts to maintain a composed façade, his unexpected behavior
leaves me feeling uneasy and unsettled.
In that moment on the dance floor, I experience a closeness with Adam unlike anything I’ve ever felt before. His touch is gentle yet possessive, his movements enveloping me in a way I’ve never experienced in all the years we’ve spent together.
It’s disorienting, this sudden surge of intimacy between us, and I find myself momentarily lost in the sensation of his presence.
Adam is getting too much carried away and at the end of the dance, I suddenly feel his lips locking mine,
