“Makes sense. So Miss Turner really did get the project through connections?”
In business partnerships, reputation is paramount. If I was branded a cheater today, I would face obstacles everywhere in
Brookshire’s business circles.
I stared at Ben, who stood there speaking passionately, and my eyes turned cold.
This was my brother, my closest blood relative.
For a woman who was stringing him along, he was willing to destroy his own sister.
Clap! Clap! Clap!
Applause rang out from nearby.
“Is Mr. Turner suggesting that Trada Corp engaged in favoritism and corruption?”

All eyes turned to see a man in an expensive black suit walking toward us.
Ben’s expression shifted slightly. “Who are you?”

The host proudly introduced him, “Consider yourselves lucky today. This is the CEO of Trada Corp–Travis Jefferson.”
Travis gave me a subtle glance before continuing calmly, “Mr. Turner, you haven’t answered my question.”
Ben opened and closed his mouth, then said with difficulty, “I didn’t mean that.”
“If that wasn’t your meaning, then why did you speak that way?”
Travis looked coldly at Ben. “I hear you’re Miss Turner’s brother. Why would you publicly wrong her in front of so many people?
“I’m curious—can you give me a reason?
“What could possibly make a brother hate his own flesh and blood so much that he’d try to destroy her?”
His tone was flat, as if discussing something trivial, but Ben was left speechless.
“How boring,” Travis said, looking away. “Good looks but no brains. What a waste.”
The proud Turner heir had never faced such humiliation and immediately grew angry.
“Enough.” Nelson stood up with a bang. “Even if you’re the CEO of Trada Corp, you can’t cover for someone who constantly uses
connections, can you?”
He looked at me with disgust, his tone bitter. “Mr. Jefferson, you probably don’t know this isn’t the first time Linda has done
this.”
Travis’s eyes shifted, his lips curling into a slight smile. “Oh, are you referring to that incident three years ago?”
Nelson’s eyes brightened slightly. “Exactly. For that project, since both the Peterson and Turner families were investors, Linda took advantage of being a Turner and my future wife to force the review committee to assign the project to her.
“If Ben and I hadn’t discovered it in time, she would have succeeded.
“That’s why she ran off abroad afterward.”
This was at least the fifth time today I’d heard about what happened three years ago.
Hearing it so often had numbed me to it. I even felt somewhat grateful.
Thankfully, in this life I had left the country early. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have just this one incident to use against me.
In my previous life, I was determined to oppose Anne.
But whenever I was close to winning, either Ben or Nelson would step in, using the power of their family companies to help her fight me, then push all the blame onto me.

Being the Turner family’s daughter yet unable to recover after bankruptcy—their joint effort to ruin my reputation was a major
reason for this.
I didn’t speak up, though. Instead, I waited for Travis to continue.
After hearing Nelson’s words, he chuckled softly and then suddenly said, “But the truth I heard seems quite different from what
you’re saying.”
Nelson glared at me. “Mr. Jefferson, you must have been deceived by Linda.”
“Haha, I never said I heard it from Miss Turner.”
Travis raised an eyebrow slightly and clapped his hands gently. “Bring them
