Chapter 19
After several days in the hospital, Amelia felt utterly restless. Most of her wounds had scabbed over, concealed beneath her coat, leaving no trace of her battered state.
Seeing the sky clear up outside the window, she couldn’t sit still any longer and longed to take a stroll
It was the weekend, and Sharon had the time to visit her. The two took a leisurely walk on the lawn outside.
The early winter sun felt warm, rejuvenating their spirits with just a bit of exposure, as if they were coming back to life.
As soon as they returned to the inpatient department, they spotted Ivy pacing back and forth downstairs.
Upon seeing Amelia, she rushed straight at her, demanding. “Stop right there! Tell me, where have you hidden Theo?”
She had no idea about Theo’s detention: all she knew was that he had vanished for five whole days after their unexpected encounter at the mall. Ivy pondered over it and convinced herself that Amelia was behind it all.
Sharon stepped forward swiftly and ancered, “Who would bother hiding Theo! Such trash is only treasured by someone like you who collects wastel

gaze at Amelia. “Don’t think I don’t know your intentions. You must be trying to win him back, right? No way! I’m pregnant now. Any tricks you pull will be useless!”
“Just a bastard in your womb. Who would care?”
Ivy jumped in rage, lifting her arrogant chin, “What bastard? This is Thea’s child!”
Amelia looked at her with a smile, tinged with a hint of pity, and said, emphasizing each word, “I meant, Theo himself is a bastard
She could no longer hold the expression; her pride began to crumble, leaving her flustered and at a loss, “What nonsense are you talking about?”
“Don’t you know? Theo is an orphan, adopted,” Amelia stepped forward, commering her, “Just ask him if you don’t believe it. But he’s been detained, so he might not be able to give you an answer anytime soon”
Ivy’s face gradually darkened, with a mixture of astonishment, disbelief, and other emotions.
She thought she had climbed up the social ladder, thought her ordinary life was about to take a turn for the better. She had schemed and degraded herself to destroy someone else’s marriage, all for money, fame, and profic
But in the end, she had encountered a fake.
She harbored such great hope, which made the disappointment particularly painful impossible. You must be lying to mc.”
Amelia’s smile was gentle, her eyes bright and striking, her gentleness laced with a strong hint of provocation, “If you don’t believe me, you should wait at the police station. When he is released, you’ll know the truth right away.”
“Shut up! Stop talking” by covered her ears, unwilling to hear any more. She screamed and ran away, her eyes full of disbelief.
She refused to believe that what Amelia said was true; she wanted the truth, the definitive truth.
Two days later, Theo was released as scheduled. Being detained for the first time was no picnic. For seven whole days, he had little appetite, starving himself and losing a significant amount of weight.
Ivy had been waiting at the door and rushed towards him as soon as he stepped out of the police station, “Theo, are you okay? You’ve lost so much wright. I was worried sick.
Tears welled up in her eyes, ready to spill over. Theo felt a pang of sorrow and hugged her tightly, “I’m fine, don’t worry,” he soothed. “Let’s hurry back. We shouldn’t stay here”
Stepping out from the abyss and embracing his lover, his heart was filled with tenderness, and his hatred for Amelia grew even stronger.
He could only blame himself for being too soft–hearted. “I can’t let her off this timer he thought to himself.
Ivy took a deep breath, cautiously venturing to ask, “Theo, there’s something I want to ask you
“Click” A bright flash of light interrupted their conversation, freezing their intimate embrace.
