I ignored her and kept packing my things.
Regina paced the living room with her arms crossed while making multiple calls to Tyler.
She kept glancing between me and the clock. Her expression grew more and more desperate. Then as if making up her mind, her eyes suddenly darkened.
“Oh no! Lisa, help! I think I just pulled my back!”
I barely tilted my head to look at her. She was sprawled on the floor, right next to her baby’s bassinet.

I wanted to see what kind of stunt she was trying to pull this time.
So I walked over. My face was cold. “What happened to you?”
Regina pouted pitifully. “You know I’ve been having trouble breastfeeding, right? I was just trying to make a bottle for the baby,
but the floor was slippery, and I… I think I twisted my back.”
She stayed on the ground, making no effort to get up. She gazed at me with watery eyes.
“I’m fine… but the baby’s starving, and he won’t stop crying. Can you please help me make the formula?”
I could’ve ignored her, but the baby was innocent.
Sighing, I grabbed the formula can and read the instructions. “Mix with 45–degree water…”
Just as I reached for the kettle, Regina shoved me.
Scalding water splashed from the spout. The baby’s ear–piercing wails filled the room.
At that exact moment, Tyler burst through the door.
The first thing he saw was his beloved Regina, sitting on the floor while looking helpless. The baby was screaming in the bassinet.
And me, standing there with the kettle in my hand.
Smack.
Tyler’s palm cracked across my face.
Then, without hesitation, he grabbed his phone and dialed 911.
He helped Regina up, then turned on me. His eyes were blazing with fury. “Lisa! I can’t believe how vile you’ve become! No matter how much you hate Gina and me, how could you take it out on the baby?”
I clutched my burning cheek. My eyes stung despite myself.
In my entire life, even my mother had never laid a hand on me. But after marrying Tyler, this was what I got?
I lifted my gaze, straight to the hidden camera tucked away in the corner of the room.
“Tyler, don’t regret this.”
