Chapter 19
“I shouldn’t interfere?” David let out a cold snort.
Just then, the housekeeper came to remind him, “Mr. Ziegler Senior, dinner is ready.”
David then said, “Alright. Let’s eat first.”
As he stood up, Tessa stepped forward to help him. It was then that David suddenly stared into her eyes and asked, “Tess, what’s wrong with your eyes?”
“My eyes?” Tessa was caught off guard. She instinctively reached up and touched under them. “It’s nothing. I probably just haven’t been sleeping well lately.”
David frowned slightly. He sensed’something amiss with her eyes. While she seemed sick, he couldn’t quite put it into words. Yet the longer he observed, the more normal they seemed.
Tessa helped David inside without sparing Ethan a single glance throughout.
Ethan’s expression remained unreadable as he silently followed them in.
At the dinner table, David kept piling food onto Tessa’s plate. “Eat more, Tess. You’ve lost so much weight. Has this brat been starving you?”
‘It seemed that he still didn’t know that Tessa had already moved out.
However, Tessa simply smiled and said, “Of course not.”
David shot a glare at Ethan. “Don’t you even know to serve your wife food?”
Before Ethan could respond, Tessa interjected, “It’s fine, David. I can help myself. Please eat too.” She served David some food while continuing to ignore Ethan entirely.
Ethan’s frown deepened slightly.
After dinner, David called Tessa into the study alone.
“Tess, are you sure you want to divorce Ethan?” He still felt that it was a shame. Based on Ethan’s reaction earlier, it seemed like he might care about her after all.
“My mind’s made up, David. Please don’t try to persuade me.”
David let out a long sigh and then called Ethan in as well.
“Let’s get the divorce settled as soon as possible,” he said firmly. “Tess is determined.
Ethan frowned and shot Tessa a look. “Didn’t I tell you not to trouble Grandpa with our issues?”
Tessa scoffed. “If you’d just signed the divorce papers, I wouldn’t have had to
+15 Bonus:
Ethan didn’t believe that she truly wanted a divorce. After all, she’d gone to such lengths to marry him, so there was no way she’d just give up so easily now.
To him, bringing it up to David was just another one of her tactics.
He smirked and turned to David. “Grandpa, don’t worry. I’ll talk to her about this.”
David glanced at Tessa, then nodded. “Fine. Talk it through and handle it properly.”
Following that, Ethan pulled Tessa out of the Ziegler residence.
“Let go!” she snapped, shaking off his hand in annoyance. “If you genuinely want to discuss the divorce, fine. I’m all ears. But if not, I’m leaving.”
“Are you done?” Ethan looked exasperated. “What more do you want from me? I’m telling you, no matter how much you act out, you’re not getting the corneas back! It’s with Charlotte now. The surgery was a success. Stop throwing a tantrum.‘
“Throwing a tantrum?”
Tessa’s face twisted with scorn. Even now, he still thought that she was just using divorce to throw a tantrum.
She felt utterly disappointed. Ethan had never cared about how she truly felt. He always assumed her motives and always imagined the worst.
“I don’t want anything anymore,” she said coldly. “All I want now is a divorce. If you have any shred of decency left, let me go. Otherwise, I’ll see you in
