“Summer Carter, how many times do I have to tell you? Wendy and I have nothing going on. She was just kidnapped–of course,
she’s scared to live alone. That’s the only reason I let her stay here.
“You don’t have to be so dirty–minded, seeing filth in everything-”
“Dirty–minded?”
I pointed at myself, laughing in disbelief before my voice cracked into a furious scream for the first time.
“Xavier Smith, am I the one twisting things, or are you two just getting worse?
“Who was it that locked me in a dressing room on our wedding day just because she said she wanted to wear a wedding dress?
“Who was it that chose to cut off Lucas’s legs–his own son’s legs–just to save her, leaving him possibly unable to walk for the rest of his life?!
“Tell me, Xavier. If I’m the one at fault, then what does that make you? Are you a monster?”
Xavier’s face grew paler with every word.

His lips parted slightly, as if he wanted to say something, but no words came out.
Wendy, however, suddenly burst into tears.

Clutching Xavier’s hand, she sobbed dramatically. “It’s all my fault. Summer, please don’t fight anymore. I’ll leave. I promise I’l
never see Xavier again.”
Watching her cry, Xavier hesitated.
His gaze flickered, conflicted. He turned to me, his voice pleading.
“Summer, Wendy is really innocent.”
But I didn’t even spare him a glance.
Without another word, I gathered my things and walked out with the movers.
