She asked worriedly, ‘Emma, how did you get hurt?”
Emma cried for her mom, shaking her head and refusing to answer.
Victoria looked at her and was momentarily stunned
She recognized this woman; it was Charlotte Rose, the owner of a dessert shop outside Nexus College
In her previous life, after finishing a part–time job one day, Victoria didn’t have time to eat dinner and fainted from hunger on the road.
It was Charlotte who kindly helped her to the shop to rest and gave her free cake scraps. After learning about Victoria’s financial difficulties, she even offered her a part–time job at the shop and often gave her leftover bread and cakes. Those lettovers ended up saving Victoria a lot on living expenses.
Unfortunately, Charlotte’s dessert shop was transferred after only six months, and she left Sunhaven.
Victoria had been impoverished in her previous life and never had the chance to
repay her.
Nick pointed at the man and explained to Charlotte, “This guy hit Loma and tried to run, but we stopped him.”
Charlotte repeatedly bowed in t

It turned out that Emma, believing she was mature enough and knew the way, had left school by herself to search for Charlotte.
Seeing that Emma’s parent was a woman, the man regained his arrogance and scolded Charlotte, “You can’t even watch your own kid. She hit me, and these people stopped me from leaving.”
Charlotte, who had been spraking gently to Emma, turned and glared fiercely at the man, gidewalk, not a road. My daughter’s knee is scraped, where are you hurt?”

The man grumbled, pulled a crumpled bill from his pocket, and threw it on the ground. “Here you go, and keep the change. I knew you were trying to extort me.”
Charlotte was very angry, but as a single mom with no man to support her, she didn’t dare argue too much with this bastard.
Victoria stepped forward. ‘Is this how you apologize?”
Eric chimed in, “Ethan, isn’t the police chief of Sunhaven named John Turner? How about we have him send someone to lock up this troublemaker for a few days?”

Ethan nodded and pulled out his phone, pretending to
Seeing this, the man knew it was too easy for rich people to target him, and the police chief’s last name did seem to be Turner.
“Wait, how much do you want?”
Victoria glanced at Charlotte, who signaled five hundred dollars.
She then said, Transfer two thousand dollars first, we ll refund the excess.”
“Two thousand dollars, are you crazy? For this little scrape?” the man replied with surprise.
She added, “And Emma’s emotional distress. You scared her to tears, shouldn’t you buy some gifts to cheer her up? Pay up or we’ll send you to the station. Do you think the police will believe you or 157”
Victoria’s words left the man speechless,
In the end, the man transferred eighteen hundred dollars to Charlotte because he had no more money in his account.
Victoria finally let him go.
Charlotte initially wanted to treat them to desserts to thank them, but s
she needed to take Emma to the clinic first.
Nick was about to wave it off, but Victoria exchanged contact information with Charlotte and said she’d visit her dessert shop when the got the chance.
After parting
with Charlotte and Emma, Ethan asked her, “Do you like desserts?”
Victoria watched Charlotte walk away. A single mom running a dessert shop and raising a child alone–how tough it must be
She replied, “Not really, I just had a sudden ideaTM
Ethan said, “If you like, I’ll take you to Sugar Drizzle Delights.”

Victoria shook her head. It wasn’t about enjoying desserts; she wanted to open her own shop.
After school, Victoria headed to Sweet Haven Corner, with Ethan and the others tagging along.
Fresh flowers adorned the entrance. As she pushed the door open, a string of wind chimes swayed in the b Thoughtfully decorated dessert shop,

member, Wren, quietly reminded her, “Charlotte, we ve only sold two items today…”
Wren wanted to remind Charlotte that business was already bad, and it was hard enough to get customers. How could Charlotte offer free items and still make money?
Charlotte smiled and explained, “They helped Emma today.”
Wren sighed, thinking they had a big sale. At this rate, she wondered how long she could keep this job.
Victoria ordered the signature tiramisu, and Ethan and the others casually ordered desserts with coffee.
She knew that tiramise was Charlotte’s specialty, made with authentic rum and freshly ground cocoa powder. As soon as it was served, the rich aroma wafted over.
Victoria took a bite. The rich cocoa and the mellow rum complemented each other perfectly, combined with the melt–in–her–mouth cream. It was the same comforting taste from her previous life.
In her previous life, whenever Victoria was bullied outside, just one site of Charlotte’s tiramisu would make her feel surrounded by happiness.
She closed her eyes in satisfaction, immersed in the deliciousness and memories
Eric also commented that the desserts were good, comparable to the popular Sugar Drizzle Delights, but the presentation was too plain and lacked creativity.
Victoria nodded in agreement, “You have good taste.”
Noticing their satisfied expressions, Charlotte’s worries eased a bit. But the thought of recent losses made her sigh again.
Victoria timely asked, “Charlotte, are you worried about the busines
Charlotte smiled awkwardly, “I don’t mind you laughing at me, but business is indeed bad. I can’t sell everything I make every day, but I can I stop making them either,”
Victoria added, “Have you considered transferring the shop?”

Victoria said, “What if I take over the shop but hire you as the manger? We can discuss the shop’s matters together. I still have to go to school, so I’ll need you to manage it must of the time.”

Ethan and the others were all surprised. They thought Victoria suddenly wanted to eat desserts, but she actually wanted to open a
shop.
This shop wasn’t particularly special, very small, with the only advantage being its proximity to Nexus College
Charlottes face lit up with joy, her eyes shining, “Really?”
If Victoria was willing to take over, Charlotte could recover most of her costs. Moreover, Victoria wanted to hire her as the manager. allowing her to continue her dream with a stable salary without worrying about the shops profits and losses.
However, she was concerned that the shop’s lack of profitability might cause Victoria to suffer financial losses
Ms. Hamilton, this shop isn’t in a great location, and business is average. Although I have confidence in my skills, but…”
Practice had shown that good taste didn’t necessarily mean making enough money.
Victoria smiled slightly, “I understand. To be honest, my family isn t short of money. I just want to try opening a shop. I hope you l consider it.”
Victoria didn’t care about making money. She cared about Charlotte and wanted to repay her kindness, Charlotte had helped Victoria even when her shop wasn’t making money. She was a kind person who deserved a better life.

Nick replied, “Alright, as long as you’re happy.”
