Rebecca’s POV
At the venue, Travis went to deal with our parents while his beta escorted me to the dressing room.
If Mom saw how badly I was injured, she would definitely be heartbroken.
It was supposed to be a joyful day—I didn’t want her to worry.
Nina, the beta’s mate, chatted with me as she did my makeup.
“You’re really a lucky bride,” she said as she applied blush to my cheeks. “I heard the Bloodmoon Pack spent months preparing this mating ceremony, just to give you the grandest wedding imaginable.”
I looked down at the gown on me–stunning and even more exquisite than the one I had custom–made. I couldn’t help but wonder if Evan had been planning this “wedding heist” all along.
Was it because he believed what was his had been taken?
“Have you met Alpha Evan before?” I couldn’t hold back my curiosity. “What kind of man is he?”
“I’ve only seen him from a distance,” Nina paused while applying lipstick. “He doesn’t seem like someone easy to approach.”
“Oh no,” Mia groaned. I stayed silent.
“What about the Bloodmoon Pack? Do you know much about them?” I asked.
“You should know this already, but they’re the largest and most mysterious pack in the North,” Nina replied.
I nodded.
“As for the Alpha…” She gave me a teasing smile. “You’ll find out soon enough.”
Sighing, I leaned back in my chair.
Nina caught my gaze in the mirror and said, “Don’t worry. Everything’s ready.”
I looked at her reflection, then back at myself.
She curled my hair, applied mascara, and painted my lips in a bold, elegant red.
For a moment, I barely recognized the woman in the mirror.
Wearing heels and lifting my dress, I stepped up to the entrance of the church.
Mia suddenly grew restless.
“Calm down!” I tried to settle her, but then I caught a whiff of something–vanilla and chocolate.
Why… why did I smell that scent?
Confused, I watched as the church doors slowly opened.
Nina gave me a gentle push from behind, and I stepped forward to the sound of the romantic wedding march, heading toward the man standing with his
back to me.
With each step, the vanilla–chocolate scent grew stronger.
He turned around. Our eyes met.
I froze. He stared at me and growled softly, “Mine.”
“He’s our second mate!” Mia spun in excitement.
I stood in place, stunned, until Travis nudged me gently. Only then did I find the strength to keep walking.
When I reached him, he took my hand and gently touched the bandaged wound.
“It’s okay,” I whispered.
He looked at me, then brought my hand to his lips and kissed it.
Jonah’s POV
I was finally going to hold the mating ceremony with Elara.
With Rebecca out of the way, nothing stood between Elara and me.
“I can’t feel our mate bond anymore,” my wolf, Rig, said, confused.
I felt something too–as if a sharp pain had ripped through my chest–but I ignored it. Probably just the wound on my hand acting up.
I clenched my fist and turned to watch Elara walking down the aisle toward me.
The pack elder stood between us.
“Alpha, do you take Elara as your Luna?”
“–” Before I could finish, the chapel doors burst open.
Damn it, Rebecca again!
I turned around and snapped, “Rebecca, haven’t you caused enough-”
But it wasn’t Rebecca.
It was the werewolf police.
“Alpha, we’ve received a report. Your Luna and her mother, Audrey, are suspects in a kidnapping case. We need them to come with us for investigation.”
With that, they moved to seize the two women.
“Wait, what are you talking about?” I was stunned. “There’s no way they’re involved in a kidnapping!”
“We have sufficient evidence. Please cooperate.”
Elara, dressed in what should’ve been Rebecca’s wedding dress, screamed like a lunatic at the officers:
“What kind of nonsense is this? My mother is defenseless! How could she possibly kidnap Rebecca? How much did Rebecca bribe you to come here and humiliate us like this?” Jonah only stabbed Rebecca because she was trying to kill my mother! It was self–defense! Why aren’t you arresting her instead?!”
Just then, a white screen descended from above. A video started playing–footage of Elara and her mother talking in the emergency stairwell.
“This is the evidence!” A female wolf shouted, stepping forward. “Our Luna is Rebecca, not some woman like you! Your mother isn’t even sick. The diagnosis was fake! You used that to trick your way into being Luna? Dream on!”
“No!” Elara screamed, realizing she’d been exposed. She ran at the projector and tried to smash it, blocking everyone’s view.
But it was too late. The evidence was clear and undeniable.
“We all know the Alpha’s true mate is Luna Rebecca–not you!” another voice yelled.
“No! It’s all fake! Rebecca made it up to frame us!”
Elara and her mother kept denying everything, but in the chaos, everything suddenly became clear to me.
Amid the whispers and judging looks from the crowd, my mind finally cleared.
I stormed over and slapped Elara hard across the face.
“The evidence is real, isn’t it?”
She was still trying to defend herself.
That slap stunned her.
“Jonah… you hit me?”
“I did all of this just to be your Luna! You went along with it too–I didn’t force you at gunpoint!”
Rage burned through me, turning my vision crimson. I grabbed her by the throat.
“You liar! How dare you trick me!”
The police stepped in quickly and restrained us both, dragging Elara and her mother away.
As I stood in the wreckage of what should have been my perfect wedding, someone from the crowd shouted-
