Chapter 6
Jonah’s POV
When I received Rebecca’s strange message, I glanced toward the entrance.
Seeing no sign of her, I turned to Dean and ordered, “Make sure to guard both the entrance and exit. I don’t want Rebecca causing trouble at the
ceremony.”
Dean, flipping through a wedding invitation handed to him by a messenger, grinned.
“Don’t worry, Alpha. She won’t be causing any more trouble…”
As he spoke, he tossed the invitation straight into the trash.
What I didn’t know then was that the bride’s name printed on that invitation… was Rebecca’s.
Rebecca’s POV
I handed the kidnapping and assault case over to my lawyer, giving them full authority to handle it.
When Jonah tried to use his wedding to pressure me into dropping the charges, he never expected that the once obedient and compliant me would pretend to agree while doing the opposite behind his back.
My lawyer later informed me that Elara’s mother wasn’t terminally ill at all.
The medical records? Bought online–completely fake.
Even the pool of blood on the ground wasn’t human blood.
Elara’s mother had staged everything to make Jonah despise me and wholeheartedly accept Elara as his Luna.
She thought she understood human nature–that after being “taught a lesson” and abandoned by the one I loved, I’d be too broken to fight back and would simply leave in silence.
As fate would have it, Elara’s hospital room was right next to mine.
While passing the emergency stairwell, I overheard her voice full of concern:
“Jonah, you really shouldn’t have stabbed Rebecca for me! What if she tells the police?”
Jonah sounded completely unfazed.
“Rebecca would die for me. She’d never actually call the cops. Unless she’s lost her damn mind. Even if she does, I’ll find a way to make her drop it. Don’t worry. Just focus on your mom. She has to be there for the mating ceremony.”
Just a few sweet words from him had Elara giggling like a fool.
“Jonah, you’re so good to me. I don’t even know how to repay you…”
As their heavy breathing echoed through the stairwell, I quietly hit stop on my voice recorder and walked away,
Travis’s loud voice jolted me from my thoughts as I exited the airport. He rushed toward me, eyes wide with joy. “Finally! You’re home!”
He grabbed my suitcase, but his smile vanished the moment he spotted the bandage on my hand.
“What happened to your land?”
I brushed it off, but Travis wasn’t buying it.
“I heard you on the phone earlier… were you talking to your lawyer? Did that bastard Jonah hurt you?”
Travis had never liked Jonah–ever since he found out Jonah was my mate, his hostility had only grown.
gave him a look.
“Don’t worry about it. Let’s just get to the mating ceremony before Mom starts stressing again
Clenching his jaw, Travis swallowed his rage and drove me straight to the pack doctor.
As the bandage was unwrapped, my swollen, wounded hand was revealed.

The doctor gasped in shock.
“This… This cut is deep. Any deeper and it would’ve pierced through completely!”
Travis insisted on taking me to the hospital, but I talked him out of it using Mom as an excuse. After much persuasion, he finally backed down.
On the way to the ceremony site, everything still felt surreal.
The Alpha I was about to bond with–would he turn out just like Jonah?
Mia whispered in my mind, “If anything feels off, we shift and run.”
I didn’t respond. My nerves were getting the better of me.
My gaze drifted to the wound on my hand, and my lips curved into a faint smile.

Jonah hurt me.
And I wasn’t going to let him get away with it.
By now, his wedding must be in full swing.
Hope he liked my wedding gift.
