Chapter 23

Eileen had been completely abandoned.
Jaycie didn’t focus much on what happened after that. She trusted that with the capabilities of TruVision’s legal team, those
responsible would pay the price they deserved.
However, when she heard that Eileen had ended up in court without even a defense lawyer to represent her, she couldn’t help but
feel a little pity.
In reality, if Eileen hadn’t foolishly provoked Jaycie, she could’ve easily kept up the illusion of a peaceful marriage with Cole and
just be another typical story of an arranged union among the rich and powerful.
But Eileen wasn’t content. While Jaycie was still with Cole, Eileen tried to drive her away. When Jaycie left, Eileen shifted all the
blame for her own suffering onto Jaycie, determined to crush her underfoot. In the end, though, it was Eileen who had fallen into
ruin.
Cole’s group of friends, led by Wayne, had always believed in the idea that birthright determined everything and felt there was no
way people of different social classes could mix together. Instead, they ended up teaming up with Eileen, only to be dragged into a
lawsuit together.
What was the point?
Meanwhile, at the heart of all this, the most important person–Cole–had stayed silent. By refusing to comment on any of it, he
distanced himself from the whole mess.
When the case came to an end, a representative from the legal department met with Jaycie to deliver the verdict. The defendants,
despite their blatant guilt, continued to shout that they were innocent. Their refusal to admit fault and their poor attitude in
court, combined with Jaycie’s decision not to settle, led to all of them being sentenced to two years in prison.
Soon after, online discussions flooded with reactions to the rare spectacle of the group of rich kids crying as they were hauled off
to jail–something many people thought they would never witness in their lifetime.
