“It’s probably just a coincidence,” Timothy said with a hint of surprise.
“The Kingsley family’s daughter has been studying abroad for years. Also, Lewis Group is already well known. If Lena’s real
parents were still around, they would’ve come forward immediately to claim her.”
Christopher nodded in agreement, but something in him still felt off.
It was like he had lost something important.
Meanwhile, I was adjusting to my new family at the Kingsley family’s residence.
“Mrs. Ki- Mom… it’s really not necessary,” I said, staring at the mountain of food piled on my plate. I wasn’t sure how to react to
this.
“You’re too thin. You need to eat more,” Beatrice said with a look of pure affection in her eyes.
Then she seemed to realize something and picked up my plate.
“Here, sweetheart, open your mouth.”
My ears turned red. I had always eaten on my own, and being fed by someone else at this age was a little embarrassing.
Hayden sat nearby, and his expression remained indifferent. However, he quietly peeled the white shrimp I loved and placed it in
front of me.
“Lena, use this,” Dominic said, ordering a servant to bring over a spoon. I looked up at him and smiled gratefully.
I thought leaving Timothy and Christopher would be hard. I thought that stepping into the world of the Kingsley family, with its wealth and influence, would make me feel like a stranger.
But everything was completely different from what I had imagined.
When Hayden led me to my room, I couldn’t help but stare at him, taken aback. The room was filled with soft pink hues and an assortment of plush toys, making me laugh despite myself.
“Do you like it?” Hayden asked, his usually calm expression showing a hint of uncertainty.
My eyes welled up slightly, and I gave him a warm smile.
“Thank you… Hady.”
