Chapter 6
Jack came home drunk one night. I knew why–he wanted to marry Sandra but could not.
When I saw the man I spent most of my life loving in pain, for a split moment, I wanted to grant him his wish. Since I was already ruined, the last thing I could do for him was not to stand in his way of happiness.
I placed a cup of honeyed water by the side of his bed, thinking it was the last time I could do that.
However, an accident happened.
After spending an absurd night together, I only found out that I was pregnant when the lawyer sent me the draft of the divorce papers.
The baby was a gift from God. I had no choice but to stay married to give the child a complete family.
“Whitney, so this was your goal all along! You drugged me so that I would knock you up, and you could use that child to tie me down! Dream on! Who knows who that bastard child belongs to?”
I looked at Jack incredulously, unable to believe he would say such a thing.
