Lucas’s claws extended uncontrollably, slashing through his phone screen, leaving five deep cracks.
As the heir to the Alpha bloodline, his slit–pupiled golden eyes contracted into razor–thin slivers under the moonlight. The silver–gray for along his arms bristled, standing on the end.
“This is impossible…” His voice was rough, laced with an animalistic growl. His canines scraped against his lower lip, a
ubconscious reaction to his rising rage.
“Just three nights ago, during the full moon hunt, Ava had led the second pack squad as a Beta–strong, fast, untouchable. A
werewolf’s vitality wasn’t something that simply vanished.”
Sophia immediately dropped to one knee in a submissive Omega posture, picking up the shattered phone,
Tilting her head slightly, she made sure to expose the curve of her neck and chest–an instinctive move to gain Lucas’s attention.
“Lucas, calm down,” she murmured, her voice soft as if soothing an unruly pup.
“Didn’t Ava used to fake injuries just to lure you back to her side?”
Lucas’s claws sank deep into the asphalt beneath them, the ground splitting apart as if it were nothing but wet clay beneath his strength. He recalled the lunar eclipse from last year–Ava had pretended to be caught in a hunter’s trap just to get him to return
early.
“She can dare to joke about her death?” His dual–toned growl rumbled through his chest, a warning, a threat.
“Don’t be so hasty,” Sophia coaxed, pressing closer. “Maybe she’s just using some trick again…”
Lucas’s breath hitched.
“You’re right… why didn’t I think of that?”
Sophia nodded eagerly. “She’s getting bolder with her stunts, Isn’t she?”
Lucas’s fangs bared in frustration. “She’s really crossing the line this time.”
Sophia’s tail twitched unnaturally fast behind her, the subtle tremor betraying her. A wolf’s tail never lied–it was instinct,
something no amount of training could suppress.
I watched them from the spirit realm, unseen, unheard. I knew that movement all too well–wolves twitched their tails when
they lied.
That night at the mine’s entrance, Sophia had deliberately clawed my jacket, leaving my scent smeared over the border stones,
