Chapter 37
“I don’t know what you think happened, but…”
Lysandra cut me off with a sharp glare. “I think you’re exactly what I’ve always thought you were, a pathetic little nobody who doesn’t understand her place. You just want to get your place in his heart. You think that by spending some time with him, he is going to soften towards you. I have to tell you this, that is something that you are going to dream about and it is only going to happen over my dead body.”
I exhaled slowly, willing myself to stay calm.
“I don’t want to fight with you, Lysandra.” I said, looking down at my feet, avoiding her eyes for a moment. “This is not the time for us to be arguing at all.”
She scoffed, taking another step forward, closing the space between us. “That’s because you know you’d lose. That’s because you know that you are no match to me. You are nothing but an Omega, an outcast. Who the hell do you think you are to tell me that you don’t want to get into an argument or a fight?”
My jaw tightened, but I held my ground.
“I already lost,” I said quietly, my voice steady. “I lost my home. I lost my freedom. I lost everything the moment I found out I was pregnant. But if you think I’m going to let you make me feel worse about it, you’re wasting your time. Now please get out of my way.”
Lysandra’s lips curled into a mocking smile. “Please. Don’t act like you’re some tragic victim in all of this. You chose to spread your legs for Damon, and now you think you deserve some kind of sympathy? Do you really believe that he’s going to give you any of it? You don’t deserve it. Who the hell do you think you are? I am surprised by the guts that you’re having.”
My blood boiled at her words, but before I could respond, another voice interrupted.
“Enough.”
Damon.
His deep, authoritative voice cut through

His gaze flickered between us, his jaw clenched, his expression unreadable.
Lysandra straightened, her anger momentarily shifting into something else, something more controlled.
“Damon,” she greeted smoothly, as if she hadn’t just been spewing venom at me seconds ago.
Damon’s eyes darkened. “I said enough. You are going to leave her alone, Lysandra.”
Lysandra looked like she wanted to argue, but she held her tongue, her lips pressing into a thin line. “I was only talking to her.”
“Then this conversation is over. You can leave.”

I stayed silent, my heart still racing from the confrontation. She froze, processing his words as if they were a slap in the face to her, as if this was the last thing that she would have expected him to tell her.
Damon exhaled sharply, pinching the bridge of his nose before turning his attention to Lysandra. “I told you to leave. This is no place for an argument.”
A flicker of pain crossed her face, but it was gone in an instant, replaced by pure rage.
“So, this is what you’re choosing?” she hissed, motioning toward me. “You’d rather have her than me? You are choosing to defend her against me?”
Damon’s expression hardened. “That’s not what this is about.”
“Then what is this about?” she snapped. “Because from where I’m standing, it looks like you’re protecting her. Again.”
Damon didn’t answer.
Lysandra let out a bitter laugh, shaking her head. “You’re pathetic.” She turned her gaze back to me, eyes full of disdain. “Enjoy
your little victory while it lasts, Omega.”
With that, she turned on her heel and stormed off, leaving nothing but icy silence in her wake.

I let out a slow breath, willing my hands to stop shaking.
Damon didn’t move for a long moment.
Then, finally, he looked at me.
“Go back to your room, Sienna” He said, looking at me. “Isla going to be waiting for you.”
His voice was softer than before, but there was something firm beneath it, something final.
