I turned to see a hint of panic flicker in Violet’s eyes. Soon, however, she blinked, and her eyes became teary. Her gaze was guileless and innocent.
“Do you think I’ve accused Lara wrongly, Hansel?” She blinked, and tears rolled down her cheeks.
I couldn’t help admiring her acting skills as I floated in the air. It was the entertainment industry’s loss that she wasn’t an actress. She could win awards for that!
“You saw the surveillance footage. There’s no doubt that Lara helped that man into the hotel room and left over two hours later,” she said.
I was shocked. I’d only been in the room for less than a minute. How could she have turned it into two hours later?
Hansel questioned that. “The hotel’s surveillance cameras were not working for two hours after Elara entered the room.”
The realization dawned on me. No wonder he had no idea that I’d come out of the room–the cameras had malfunctioned after I’d gone in.
“T–That’s probably just a coincidence.” Violet was evidently diffident. She threw herself into Hansel’s arms and put on a fragile act. “Someone else sent those photos to me, Hansel. It’s my fault for not verifying their authenticity before sending them to you.
“I was just worried about Lara doing something wrong! I honestly had no intention of using those photos to make you two split up.”
She wept while speaking; it was a sight that could make any man soften their heart. As expected, Hansel’s expression softened, and he tenderly dried her tears. His intelligence started deteriorating. “I was just fooling around with her. What’s there to split up?”
I couldn’t even bring myself to snort at that.
Violet continued with her act. She sniffled and said, “I’ll definitely apologize to Lara when she gets back if those photos are fake. It’s all my fault, Hansel. Don’t be mad at me, please.”
“I would never be mad at you, silly,” he coaxed gently.
“You have to believe me,” she said coquettishly.
“I do.” He didn’t even hesitate. He leaned down to kiss her.
I sneered. He’d used all his brains on getting revenge on me, but they seemed to disappear when it came to dealing with a scheming bitch like Violet. It was clear she’d staged those photos of me in bed with someone else!
The hotel’s surveillance cameras had been tampered with after I’d entered that man’s room, after which they made it seem like they’d been spoiled for two hours. During that time, Violet must’ve had someone impersonate me to have those photos taken.
It was such a superficial trick, yet Hansel wasn’t even willing to use a sliver of his brain to analyze it.
“Thank you for believing me, Hansel.” Violet looked at Hansel shyly before placing his hand on her chest. Her gaze turned alluring.
His breathing instantly hitched, and he kissed her neck before slowly moving down to her chest. His other hand slipped beneath her skimpy nightgown and pressed against her thigh. He was about to move it upward when his phone rang.

This time, he’d saved the number. The call was from Officer Crawford.
Hansel’s expression shifted. He immediately pushed Violet away, and his gaze cleared. “I need to answer this.”
He wasn’t exactly gentle, so she stumbled backward and almost fell. He didn’t notice as he walked away to answer the call.
