Yes, I left two paring knives on the table that day–one for Theodore and one for Rosalie. Theodore stabbed Rosalie in the belly and killed his other child. Rosalie also successfully made Theodore impotent with the other paring knife. He was no longer a man.
The Lamberts were an aristocratic family. I could easily get this information from the news.
I was prepared to close the door, but he stood in the way. “Celeste, I have nothing left. It’s all my fault. I just want to go back to the way things were. Give me a chance to redeem myself.”
I now hated men who often groveled to women. Theodore could be mean one second and nice the next.
“Mr. Lambert, please leave. I’m closing the door.” I ignored how much his fingers were probably hurting and his twisted facial features.
“Celeste, let me explain. I had a dream that we were on a yacht together, traveling around the world, but you fell into the sea and I didn’t save you. It’s all a dream, right?” Theodore asked.
I suddenly froze and asked coldly, “Did you dream about sharks?”
The tragic scene of myself being eaten by sharks until not even a bone was left came to my mind again.
Theodore was suddenly silent, but his eyes could not fool me. I had traveled back in time, and so had he. He already knew the outcome, yet he still chose Rosalie over me.
I closed the door as hard as I could, and he retreated when his fingers cracked.
