Chapter 50
The first thing that came to Ivory’s mind was to fight the person in front of her.
She swung her fist in the air, intending to fight off who she believed would be an attacker, obviously sent by Samantha or Lionel with intention of making the best of the aphrodisiac incense that has been lit.
But the very next second, her wrists were caught and the man in front of her stared down at her with a confused frown, while she stared back at him with surprise, as well as a hint of relief.
“Gadreel?” She hissed. “What are you doing here?”
A good question. What was he doing here? Gadreel couldn’t help but wonder. He wanted to talk to her all night, question her, but what about, he couldn’t quite find the answer to that.
Just as he opened his mouth to respond however, the sound of footsteps approaching reached their ears. Ivory’s eyes widened and upon recognizing one of the voices, she was quick to act: pulling Gadreel along with her as she hid behind one of the long curtains and placed her hand over his mouth.
The whole thing has happened so quickly, that only until they had settled down, did Ivory take notice of the small distance that existed between them and the nagging feeling it caused in her chest.
Against her will, her body stiffened. Gadreel who noticed this, narrowed his eyes and tilted his head ever so slightly, studying her expression like she was some circus animal.
This little action of his earned him a deadly glare from Ivory.
However, before anything could be said or done between the two, the door opened and two people walked in.
“Why are you here?” The first voice spoke and as Ivory had recognized, it belonged to her father. “And why would you come without informing me?”
The next voice however, she found unfamiliar.
“It’s your birthday and I wanted to give you some good news.”
“Good news?” Lionel repeated.
“Yes, I’m pregnant and the doctor has confirmed it to be a healthy baby boy! I’m finally giving you your first son, my love.”
My love? Pregnant?!
Lionel…her father….he had a mistress and she was pregnant?
This whole revelation surprised not only Ivory who had her brows furrowed in confusion as well as surprise, and Gadreel who for once looked bewildered, but even Lionel who had remained silent, but a few seconds later, a deep laugh filled the room.
“That’s wonderful news my love,” He said. “It is as I’ve always said, you’re the most amazing woman ever.”
“If you know that, then why haven’t you divorced that barren bitch and married me yet?”
There was a moment of silence, of hesitation before the female voice, Obviously belonging to Lionel’s mistress, carried on.
“If you’re so scared of looking bad in the eyes of society, why not just take care of her the very same way you did with that useless first wife of yours.”
Ivory felt like she had been punched in the gut the moment she heard this.
Take care of her the very same way he did with his first wife?
Her mother…Her father had something to do with her mother’s death?
She had always thought her mother’s death wasn’t natural, but to think her father had a hand
in it…
It felt like the ultimate betrayal of all.
One that brought tears, both of anger and hurt to her eyes, but Ivory refused to cry, not over her father and sure as hell not in front of Gadreel.
Instead, she focused her attention back to the two people outside and listened in on the conversation even if she didn’t want to.
She needed to get enough information to know what was really going on, and whether her father had truly had a hand in her mother’s death
But as the seconds passed on and she listened to her father’s mistress elaborate on how her mother’s death was no accident or happening of nature and had been planned, she felt her
heart break.
Lionel had done all this, just so that he could marry his other mistress.
Did her mother really mean nothing to him? So much so that he killed her off because of another girl?
“We have a bright future together, Lionel,” The mistress said and the next thing both of them knew, they heard the sound of kisses and grunts, indicating that the two were shamelessly making out.
If not for the fact that she was sickened by the entire ordeal, Ivory would have found this situation funny, seeing as Samantha had done so much to become her father’s woman, only

for the same fate that befell her mother to happen to her.
Her grip on the curtain tightened and her breathing became a bit unstable. She had heard enough and wanted to leave, her head clouded with anger, when a pair of warm hands suddenly covered her ears.
Startled, Ivory glanced up, only to find that Gadreel had placed his hands over her ears. His expression was unreadable, but he was clearly looking at her with a certain intensity that she couldn’t place.
The sudden gesture confused Ivory and she stared up at him, trying to make out his intentions. During that same time, it felt like the ache in her chest had dulled a bit and the constant and annoying sound of her Lionel and his mistress making out had faded to nothing, leaving Ivory to stare and search Gadreel’s eyes for an answer.
But once again, just like the days when they had been married, Ivory couldn’t understand a thing about his intention right now.
And despite her attempt at understanding Gadreel’s actions, her attention was quickly diverted as she began hearing voices from the outside and suddenly, the main door busted
opén.
Samantha, with her shoulders held high and Evangeline by her side, lead people into the room, intent on showing them Ivory’s disgraceful behavior.
She smirked just at the thought of everyone seeing Ivory, rendered vulnerable by the aphrodisiac and having sex with some random guy.
What would they all think when they saw the new Elixiron’s CEO was nothing more than a whore?
However, as she stepped into the room and saw the couple making out, her eyes widened.
It wasn’t Ivory and some random guy, but… Lionel and another woman.
The sight before her had Samantha screeching in disbelief and disgust. “What the hell!”
