Chapter 8 Her Sugar Daddy?
Lucien’s words felt like a harsh wake up call, that despite everything happening, Ivory had tried avoiding
Indeed, it was about time that she stopped playing house and having expectations for people who were never going to fulfill them.
Gadreel, despite the years she had sacrificed and nursed him back to health, wasn’t going to reciprocate her feelings. It was a painful reality, but she had to come to terms with it and now, it was time for her to focus on the things that mattered the most, her company.
Elixiron, as she had named it after the Elixir of life, was a Pharmaceutical company she had created from scratch. During her teen years, she had come down with an Infection and her family, scared that they were going to get infected, shipped her off.
But Ivory knew that was just an excuse to get her away, because as soon as she arrived in the small town Samantha had convinced her father to send her to, she was placed in foster care and abandoned.
Her years at her foster home felt like hell, an utter nightmare where she had to endure abuses from people who only kept her as a means to get paid. But then she met her master.
Doctor Ellas Wrenford, a genius in the medical field who happily took her under his wings and helped oversea her schooling and medical skills development.
Honestly, if Ivory were asked, she’d tell you that Doctor Elias was the only reason why she was still alive till date.
At the age of 18, she finally managed to graduate and earn her PHD in medicine. From there, she started Elixiron, building the company from scratch based on the knowledge and skills she had acquired over the years.
Unfortunately, she never had the chance to debut as the Founder, because her father had uprooted her from that life and brought her back here, all to be a stand in bride.
They discarded her when they didn’t need her and brought her back when they did; the irony in that had Ivory chuckling.
“Don’t chuckle out of the blues,” Lucien scolded as he opened one of the back compartment and pulled out a cold compress. Gently, he placed it against the redden spot on Ivory hand and sighed “How could you allow yourself get hurt like this.”
“It’s nothing,” Ivory tried to pull her hand away, but a single glare from Lucien was all it took for her to dismiss that idea.
“You should care more about yourself.” He scolded.
“I do. I just, want to focus on more important things now. Elke the company.” She pointed out.
Lucien was silent for a few seconds, but he complied eventually. “I’m gonna be gone for a while. I have work to attend to in Texas and I can’t leave those knuckle heads unsupervised I need you to step in, V.”
Ivory, although hesitant at first, nodded, understanding perfectly what he was saying.
Although, she had left Elixiron to his management, she still held 75% of the stocks and shares, which meant, that when push came to shove, the company needed someone of her intellect to lead it.
She previously resisted becoming a celebrity because she needed to focus on Gadriel’s health. She hoped that the first time he could speak, he would call out her name. Therefore, she refused to stand in the spotlight, because the only pair of eyes she wanted to shine for were Gadriel’s.
But the experiences of the past five years have made her completely aware, and she will expedite their divorce

proceedings as soon as possible. She needs to become her own person.
Ivory nodded. “I will.”
Lucien nodded. “Good, I’m glad. I’ve scheduled a meeting for Monday.” Ivory nodded.
“Now, let’s get you some real treatment.”
She wanted to protest, but knew better than to go against Lucien. They had known each other for years and after serving under Doctor Elias, she fully understood Lucien. Lucien regarded her almost as his only family, and he wouldn’t allow anyone to hurt her.
Once, when she was almost raped by the male owner of the foster family, she saw Lucian chop off his arm. She looked at Lucian in shock. But Lucian just took off his coat and wrapped it around her. As a result, the male owner was sent to prison.
Lucien kissed her on the forehead and told her, “I will make sure that you will only do what you want to do in the future.” When she was about to add something to Gadriel, she saw that Lucien almost killed her parents, but she begged him not to. She loves Gadriel.
Thinking of this, a self–deprecating smile appeared on the corners of her mouth. She knew that Lucien would always see further ahead than she could. She hugged Lucien and curled up in his arms.
It’s great that she also has someone to protect her, and he didn’t blame her for her capriciousness.
Standing outside, Gadreel had a dark look in his eyes as he watched the car Ivory had just entered begin to leave.
The nerves of that woman, he thought. Here he was filling a tad bit guilty about his action earlier. Protecting Evangeline was an instinct, one that had been embedded in him by the years of loving her, but painfully admitted, not the most logical one, seeing as Ivory was still his wife.
Yet, when he decided to go after her, here she was, getting cozy with another man.
Gadreel felt the vein on his temple throb.
How shameless could Ivory be. They were still married yet she had already found herself what? A sugar daddy? He felt his fists curl up into balls and the veins on his knuckles popped.
He couldn’t stand for this. Ivory had to explain herself!
He immediately sent a text message to his assistant. “I want to know which man Ivory has been dating in the last hour.”

Turning, he began walking in the direction of his car, Intent of catching up with the car Ivory had just left in and getting much deserved answers.
But before he could reach his car, Evangeline’s voice reached his ears.
“Reel, are you leaving?” She had rushed out of the house after him and had witnessed his glaring contest with the
Now that she saw him leaving, obviously about to chase after Ivory, she began to panic.
“I have something to attend to, Eva Get back inside the house and stay with your parents.” He instructed, not even glancing her way.
This fueled Evangeline’s panic even more and as a last resort, she turned to the only thing she was sure would
work on Gadreel
“Ah,” Grabbing her chest, she feigned hurt, pretending like her heart had began acting up again. “It hurts. I can’t breathe.”
The act worked perfectly, having Gadreel turning around immediately and rushing to her side.
“Eva,” His brows were furrowed, worry written all over his face. “Are you okay? What happened?”
Evangeline clutched onto him, feigning difficulty. “My heart hurts again…and I feel like my breath is being cut off.”
Gadreel was quick to act. Scooping her off the floor, he carried her bridal style, heading back inside all the while calling for his personal doctor.
“Oh my God,” Samantha panicked when she saw her daughter’s state. “Eva, baby, are you okay?”
“No…” Evangeline answered, sounding as weak as possible.
“I’ve already called for my doctor.” Gadreel informed as he gently placed her on one of the chairs and stayed by her side. “He should be here soor.”
True to his words, Gustavo, his personal doctor, arrived less than ten minutes after he had made the call.
The examination took less than five minutes. After it was done, Gustavo shook his head.
“Her condition seems to have deteriorated.” He informed.
“Oh God,” Samantha wailed and Lionel was no different.
They both became gloomy at the news. Watching this, Gadreel’s brows unconsciously creased
Lionel and Samantha were fawning over Evangeline so much, unlike Ivory. Sure, her heart diseases was severe,
but shouldn’t they have at least made an attempt to make sure she was okay after the tea spill?
It was like her well–being didn’t matter to them. Almost as if they were purposely neglecting her.
Had it… always been like this?
The thought had the crease on his forehead deepening.
Was that why Ivory was so eager to find another man? Because she craved attention, validation?
Which was it?
