Chapter 8
Eros turned slowly, disdain clear in his eyes. “I’ve known all along.”
“After all, who hasn’t dealt with a few scumbags in their youth?”
“You cheated on your wife, caused the death of your own child and yet you still have the gall to make a scene here?”
“What happened back then wasn’t Alora’s fault. It was yours.”
The weight of those words crushed Silas.
His head sank in defeat as he moved toward Elvira, helping her up. “Let’s go.”
But Elvira shoved him away, her voice trembling with fury. “It’s all your fault! Everything’s your fault!”
“You kept saying you’d marry me, but you dragged it on for three years!”
“If you had just given me more money, do you think I would’ve cared about those thirty–thousand–dollar shoes?”
Silas stood there, stunned, confusion flashing across his face as he turned to Elvira. “Didn’t you say you didn’t care about money?”
Elvira’s fury erupted, her voice dripping with anger, “So, in your eyes, am I just that cheap?” I couldn’t bear to watch their petty quarrel any longer. With a single, deliberate motion, I linked my arm with Eros and walked out of the VIP room.
Once outside, the scene was chaos. The airport lounge manager, alongside several others, was angrily reprimanding the lounge staff.
The news of what had happened in the VIP room had spread like wildfire through the airport. They were scrambling to control the damage.
The moment the staff member saw me, she rushed over, her face bruised and kneeled before me, pleading for forgiveness.
I didn’t even glance in her direction as I walked past, uninterested in her apologies. Forgiving grievances with kindness? No, I believed in confronting wrongs head–on.
I had no obligation to forgive her.
The injuries I sustained were minor and were treated at the hospital, so I recovered quickly. But Eros insisted on keeping me hospitalized for a full check–up.
His eyes, still red–rimmed, showed just how much the incident had affected him.
In the quiet hospital room, with only the two of us, he held me close, his gaze heavy with concern. “Wife, I’ll never let you go pick someone up again.”
A warm sense of happiness blossomed in my chest and I instantly agreed, “Okay!” To my surprise, his expression immediately darkened, clouding over with something I couldn’t quite place.
I couldn’t help but think, “He really is contradictory.”

Quickly, I adjusted my tone, adding with a playful smile, “But darling, I want to pick you up. As long as you don’t mind if I’m a little late.”
Instantly, his mood shifted, the clouds parting as a smile tugged at his lips. “From now on, I’ll wait for you at the airport. No matter how late you are, I’ll wait.”
My heart fluttered with joy as I secretly gave a thumbs–up behind my back.
But just as I finished, I caught sight of a mirror behind me.
Eros had seen my little gesture and caught me in the act.
Flustered, I quickly shifted the topic. “Why isn’t there even a bouquet in the room?”
Eros Ferrari quickly replied, “I’ll go buy one right now.”
Watching him rush off, I couldn’t help but smile, my lips curling into a sweet grin.
The days in the hospital dragged on endlessly.
Truth be told, I wasn’t sick at all, but I had to wait for a few test results that wouldn’t come until the next day.
That night, while Eros Ferrari slept soundly, I slipped quietly downstairs to get some fresh
air.
Suddenly, someone called my name from behind.
I jumped in shock.
At first, I thought it was Eros, but to my surprise, it was Silas standing there.
I eyed him warily, ready to call for help at the slightest provocation.
But then, to my astonishment, Silas dropped to his knees in front of me.
With an intense, almost desperate affection in his eyes, he gazed at me. “Alora, do you know why I’ve never married Elvira?”
“Because I’ve never forgotten you. I’ve been waiting for you to come back.”
Tears welled in his eyes.
I sneered, my voice cold and biting. “Silas, that’s not what you said at the airport.”
He looked utterly sincere, his expression pleading. “Alora, I only said that to make you angry.”
