Chapter 9
“I love you so much that your departure all those years ago made me hold onto my anger for far too long.”
“If you just apologize and say something sweet, I’ll wrap you in my arms right away.”
“We’ve been married for so many years; you should know by now that I respond to softness, not to force.”
He said it all and even reached out as if to pull me close.
But I took a step back, my voice cold as ice. “Silas, don’t come near me.”
His face twisted in sorrow. “Alora, are you still angry with me?”
I watched him play out his melodramatic act and felt a wave of disgust roll through me.
I couldn’t bring myself to say another word.
I pointed toward the main entrance of the hospital. “Get lost.”
Then, without another glance, I turned and walked toward the building.
Behind me, his voice echoed, desperate. “Alora, I swear to the heavens, I still love you.”
“When I saw you at the airport today, I was overjoyed, but I wanted to provoke you, make you less stubborn.”
“You have no idea how happy I was when I saw you.”
I muttered to myself, “Crazy.”
Silas rushed to catch up, but just as he rounded the corner of the hospital lobby, two bodyguards from the Ferrari Family appeared, blocking his path.
I jumped in surprise, my gaze quickly shifting to Eros standing in the hallway, watching me with an unmistakable, knowing look.
There was no hint of him having just woken up, his posture sharp, as if he’d been awake for hours.
“While your husband is asleep, sneaking out to meet Silas?” Eros teased, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“I didn’t, I swear! I just stepped out for some air. I didn’t know he was here,” I hastily explained.
Eros remained unfazed. “But what I saw was the two of you meeting in secret.”
I felt my heart race, but I quickly tried to explain, my voice laced with distress. “I really
didn’t.”
Eros smirked. “I can forgive you, but only if…”
My eyes brightened with hope. “Only if what?”
He looked at me with that signature, calculating gaze. “Only if you never show up late when picking me up again.”
I was left speechless.

I was left speechless.
The head of the Ferrari Family, there was simply no winning against him.
I wanted to cry but had no tears left.
The next day, I couldn’t wait to be discharged.
But as my car pulled up to the entrance, to my surprise, Silas was standing there, blocking
my way.
A banner hung above him, boldly declaring, “Alora, let me chase you once more.”
Eros looked at me with disbelief, his voice sharp and irritated. “Was your judgment always this poor?”
I covered my face, mortified, unable to even look at the scene unfolding before me. “I don’t know how he became so disgraceful.”
“Darling, please, get rid of him.”
Without missing a beat, Eros called for the bodyguards. But before they could act, a woman stormed up to Silas.
It was Elvira,
She charged toward him, her fury evident as she scratched and clawed at him like a wild animal.
Silas, looking guilty, didn’t lift a finger to defend himself.
Elvira’s rage only intensified as she pointed a finger at Silas’s chest, her voice rising to a screech. “Silas, you useless coward!”
“The company’s going under and you’re still wasting time chasing after Alora?”
“She’s already married to Eros and all you’ll get is humiliation!”
Silas stood there, stunned, silent, as if he’d lost all fight within him.
The man who once seemed so full of confidence had now crumbled in front of everyone. Maybe it was Eros’s presence that shattered the last remnants of his pride.
Suddenly, Elvira turned toward our car, her eyes filled with an odd humility.
And then, right there in the middle of the street, before everyone’s curious eyes, she knelt.
Her voice was soft, pleading, as she spoke directly to me. “Alora, please, have mercy. Let us go.”
“I admit it, we were wrong at the airport. I was wrong.”
