Quinn stepped forward to say something when she saw how frenzied Nicholas was, but Gabriel beat her to it. The crisp sound of a
slap rang out, seeming even more pronounced by the quiet riverside.
Nicholas gaped at Gabriel in disbelief while cupping his face. This was the first time someone had laid a hand on him in his life.
Gabriel snorted disdainfully at the look on his face. “Quinn and I have known each other since birth–what do the few years you
two had together mean compared to that?
“Besides, isn’t Jasmine Shaw your beloved? How can you be shameless enough to want Quinn back when you destroyed her for
Jasmine’s sake? What’s your relationship with Quinn now?”
Nicholas parted his lips at that but couldn’t say a word. What was his relationship with Quinn? He was supposed to be her fiancé,
but she no longer wanted him.
He looked at Quinn tearfully at that thought and showed her his red cheek. “If hitting me will help appease you, I’m fine letting
him slap me as many times as you want.”
He watched her anxiously, hoping to see concern and heartache in her eyes. There was none of that, though. Quinn merely looked
stoic and distant.
“Quinn, 1-“Nicholas wanted to say something else, but Gabriel interrupted him.
“Can’t you tell that Quinn hates you now? Or have you forgotten what you’ve done?”
“Shut up! What happened between Quinn and I is none of your business!” Nicholas shoved Gabriel angrily, making the latter
topple backward into the river behind.
Even if he could be saved, Gabriel would definitely fall sick if he were to fall into the river on such a cold night. Quinn lunged toward him, grabbing him and pulling him to safety. “Are you okay, Gabe?”
Gabriel couldn’t help smiling when he saw how worried she was.
“You’re Gabriel Hartman!” Nicholas cried. The mention of Gabriel’s name had reminded him of how he’d noticed someone by
that name secretly watching Quinn when he and Quinn had first gotten together.
