Quinn hadn’t thought much of the situation at first, but Gabriel’s series of questions made her face warm. She didn’t need to look
in the mirror to know she had to be blushing furiously. That only made her feel more embarrassed.
Just then, Gabriel held out his wrist before her. “Does this seem familiar?”
Quinn was taken aback when she saw the somewhat worn bracelet he wore. It was one that had been popular when they were children. At the time, he’d pestered her to get him one, so she’d bought one at random. She didn’t expect him to keep it around to this day.
“Don’t overthink this–I’ve kept it this whole time, but I only put it on when I returned to look for you. I thought it’d be nice if
you were to remember how close we were as children,” he said.
She stared at him, not sure what to say in response. Just then, Stella called her. She answered the call with relief.
Stella said, “I think Nicholas is determined to find you, Quinn. You should think of a way to deal with him pronto.”
She sounded exhausted. It looked like Nicholas had pestered her plenty for the past few days.
Quinn’s smile disappeared. She said, “Got it. Ignore him–it’s none of my business what tantrums he throws.”
Stella sighed. “Man, am I in a pickle. You have to treat me to a nice meal when I go to you!”
