Jordan dropped me off after dinner. He also helped me buy the things I needed for my new apartment. In the end, he followed me
upstairs and stayed by my bedside until I fell asleep. He only left after that.
Early the following morning, I heard about Marge getting a stroke upon hearing that Valerie had pulled strings to make her lose
her grandchild.
Marge hated me, but my child would’ve had Chuck’s blood flowing in its veins. If not for her worry that the child would truly
harm Chuck, she wouldn’t have talked him into making me abort it.
Valerie had called an ambulance, and Marge had been taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, they got into a major accident on the
way there, and she ultimately died. Valerie had been in the ambulance, too.
It had all started when Valerie had gone to Marge and come clean about everything. She thought Marge would mindlessly
condone her behavior as she’d done in the past, but Marge had flown into a rage and gotten a stroke.
In the end, they died together. I supposed this was a good ending for them–since Marge adored Valerie and wanted her as her daughter–in–law, they could do so in Hell.
Chuck kneeled on the ground at Marge’s funeral. He placed some flowers before her gravestone. I plucked a couple of wildflowers
from a patch of grass nearby and followed suit.
He looked up at me, his eyes bloodshot and swollen. I nodded. “My condolences.”
I didn’t see Chuck anymore after that day. I heard that he’d quit his job at the hospital. Rumors flew about him quitting because
he was filled with regret after personally aborting his own child.
The nurses whispered among themselves about him.
“Dr. Gross was so cruel. I watched as he performed the abortion himself. He didn’t even bat an eye!”

“Well, I saw him and his mistress flirting with each other in his office like it was nobody’s business.”
“If you ask me, it’s all that mistress‘ fault. She deserves to die a thousand times over.”
Someone else said that Chuck had quit because he couldn’t accept Marge’s sudden death. Still, whatever the reason, it was no longer my business.
Jordan picked a nice day to propose. After I said yes, he held my hand and pulled me out of the house. We happened to see Chuck fleeing the scene.
Jordan turned to look at me. “Was that-”
I cut him off. “Didn’t you say you wanted to watch a movie with me?”
He knew I didn’t want to talk about Chuck, so he kept his mouth shut and took me to the cinema.
The movie was nice. At the very end, the female protagonist found her Mr. Right.
