Marcelo, sporting a grim expression, seemed not to hear Renee’s question.
Luke, trailing them, was well aware of the reason behind Marcelo’s wheelchair use: sheer laziness.
Despite his regular exercise routine, Marcelo viewed walking as unnecessary, preferring the convenience of a wheelchair Maybe because he had been pretending for a while and had completely gotten used to it.
“Mrs. King, are you alright?” Chad was taken aback to see Renee in the wheelchair.
“It’s just a minor injury. I’ll be fine in a few days,” Rence reassured, keeping the explanation brief. “I’ll prepare a nutritious soup for you tonight, “Chad declared before heading to the kitchen,
Rence, slightly bemused, didn’t get a chance to clarify the trivial nature of her wound.
“Let the maids know if you need anything,” Marcelo instructed, implying she should avoid walking. He then proceeded upstairs to the study with Luke.
Once they were gone, Renee stood up.
“Mrs. King!” A maid rushed over, alarmed.
“Don’t worry!“Renee chided lightly, proving her mobility by walking a few steps. “I’m just heading to my room.”
On her way, she spotted a sparkling beverage with lemon slices. “Could you bring that sparkling drink to my room? And add some ice, please.”
Sparkling drink?
The maid looked perplexed, recognizing the
Long Island Iced Tea prepared earlier. Surprised by Renee’s casual reference to the cocktail as the sparkling drink, she wondered about her alcohol intake.
*RENEE*
Two maids accompanied me,one carrying the Long Island iced Tea and the other close behind, ensuring that I Won’I stumble down the stairs.
I keep telling them that I was perfectly fine but they won’t believe me.
Once in my bedroom, I relaxed on the carpet, pouring the drink into a glass with ice.I savored the first sip, the sour lemon and sweet honey perfectly blending with the unique taste of cola and fizz of carbonation.
The drink’s stimulating texture added an intriguing twist.
It was delicious!
It was paired wonderfully with a slide of rich vanilla cake.
Before I knew it, half the pitcher was gone.
I set down the glass, feeling slightly full and a bit light–headed but I was still quite lucid.
I then got my nightgown and headed for a bath.

Once I was finished at my study, I headed for the dining room for dinner but Renee wasn’t there,
“Where’s Renee!” asked a maid.
“She went to her room after you headed upstairs.”
Her room was adjacent to mine.
I had to go check on her leg.I headed for her bedroom and knocked about three times on her door but there was no
allswer.
I bent the doorknob and walked into the room.
I frowned when there was still no sight of her but near the French window was a table where a mostly empty pitcher of Long Island Iced Tea sat.
Only that it wasn’t actually a tea.
It contained strong gin, rum, vodka and tequila.
And Renee almost finished everything?!
Was she a heavy drinker?
Does she know how to hold her alcohol well?
A loud bang came from the bathroom and for some reason,my heart seized.
I hurried into the bathroom and barged in without knocking
Inside, the bathroom was filled with warm, mostly vapors.
The bathtub overflowed and Renee laid submerged, only her head was above the water.
Her face was flushed and she looked greatly in discomfort.
Also, her injured right leg dangled outside the tub, the ankle visible but the bandaged knee submerged.
“Renee.“I grunted as I lifted her up from the bathtub.
Realizing her body felt hot against me,I panicked and quickly wrapped her in a towel.
As I carried her out of the room,I yelled out.
r now!!!!
“Get the doctor
The maid at the door, jolted by his command, rushed to comply.
Renee’s consciousness wavered. She struggled to open her eyes, feeling an overwhelming urge to sleep.
Marcelo gently laid her on the bed, water from her body dampening the sheets.
Her skin, pale and delicate, gave her the appearance of a porcelain doll, both exquisite and lifeless, as if she might slip into a deep slumber at any moment.

A sense of panic gripped his heart.
“Renee, wake up!” he called urgently.
On the bed, Renee’s lips moved faintly, whispering Incoherently.
Marcelo bent closer, the strong scent of alcohol wafting from her.
“Yummy….. I want a little more… My leg hurts.
Marcelo’s expression darkened, frustration evident. “Serve you right,” he muttered.
The bandage on her knee was soaked and swollen, hinting a worsening condition. Though Marcelo was accustomed to handling his own Injuries, he hesitated to touch her fragile knee, fearing he might hurt her.
Renee’s expression showed discomfort as she murmured about the pain in her knee.
“Where’s the doctor?” Marcelo’s voice held an edge of impatience, his usual composure slipping. “On the way!”
The family doctor arrived in haste, nearly stumbling into the room.
As the doctor neared the door, Marcelo abruptly stood and shut it with a forceful bang, nearly hitting the doctor’s face. This left the doctor confused.
Renee, covered only by a thin bath towel, shifted restlessly inadvertently exposing more of herself. His frustration was evident. He wanted to cover her more decently, but the wet blanket was of no use.
He cracked the door just enough for one person to pass through.
“You, come inside,” he directed the maid, tossing a shirt her way.
The maid entered, catching a glimpse of Marcelo’s bare torso. She averted her eyes out of respect. “Cover her with this,” He instructed, gesturing towards Renee on the bed.
“Yes, sir.”
Obediently, the maid approached. She couldn’t help but notice Renee’s ethereal beauty, her damp hair contrasting against the white towel and her skin so pale. Even in her disheveled state, Renee exuded an artful grace.
The maid understood Marcelo’s privacy concerns; Renee’s allure was undeniable, captivating to anyone, regardless of gender.
She gently dressed Renee in Marcelo’s shirt, puzzled by his reluctance to do it himself. Weren’t they a couple?
