Eric’s face lit up at Chloe’s words. These two would do anything to stop me and Emily from being in a relationship.
“I thought you wanted to be Alpha, brother,” said Eric with glee, “how could you accept a Luna in wolf dormancy? Surely the
pack won’t like that.”
“I am not concerned about finding a Fated Mate. As long as I love my partner, I am sure the rest of the pack will as well,” I
responded. Emily looked up at me with her big brown eyes, a beautiful smile crossing her face.
“To others, a chosen mate might make you seem weaker,” Chloe said. I turned my attention to her, and she jumped in the
presence of my Alpha energy.
“I dare anyone to accuse me of being weak,” I said to her.
“Of course, I would never accuse you, Alpha,” said Chloe. Her voice trembled.
“I have some questions for you, though. Why would you bring up Emily’s private matter in such a public place?” Emily’s hand
tightened on mine.
“I’m sorry, I was just worried,” Chloe said.
“Do you think apologies are enough here?” I asked. She crumbled under my dominance and collapsed to the floor. Her dress
fanned out around her as she lowered her head to the carpet.
“I’m so sorry, Alpha! It was an accident, I swear, but it was still wrong. I’m sorry!”
Emily, who had never seen me use my true power as an Alpha, watched her half sister with eyes wide.
She probably never expected to see Chloe cower in front of her.
“That’s enough,” I said. Chloe shakily tried to get up off the floor. As she trembled, Eric extended his hand to help her. She took
it, but did not raise her eyes to anyone.
“It’d be best if I didn’t see you again this evening,” I said. Chloe nodded, curtsied, and hurried away back to her family.
With so many people watching, Eric didn’t dare say another word. Especially when he knew I wasn’t afraid to show my power. He nodded once and stepped away, disappearing into the crowd.
Emily looked back up at me again.
“Thank you,” she said softly.
“For what?”
“Defending me.”
