Chapter 4
After hearing Rachel’s furious roar, the wine glass in Samuel’s hand slipped from his grip and crashed onto the floor.
“What did you say? Six years ago?”
He narrowed his eyes, a subtle flicker of anticipation crossing his face.
“Be specific and tell me the exact date.”
I wanted to stop Rachel, but a chilling numbness spread through my body, leaving me too weak to even lift my arm.
“Six years ago, on august. I remember it perfectly!”
Samuel blinked rapidly.
I knew it was a habit of his whenever he was deep in thought.
But before he could piece together the memories, Becky stepped forward and spoke first.
“If we count the time, wasn’t Loretta pregnant with her sugar daddy’s child back then?
“That’s ridiculous! A pregnant woman undergoing a kidney donation surgery? How is that even possible?”
Samuel’s slightly outstretched fingers jerked back and fell limply to his side.
Rachel was on the verge of losing her mind, insisting that she was at the hospital that day, keeping watch during the surgery.
“I have the surgery records and test reports–everything is saved on my phone. If you want proof, I can show you right now!”
But Becky let out a soft sigh.
“Sam, why don’t you take a look?”
