Chapter 8
Tristan was arrested.
My body had been lying there for many days. Even though Tristan sprayed countless air fresheners, it was impossible to mask the
stench that filled the air.
Finally, my body was taken out of that terrifying steamer. But because Tristan hadn’t taken any special precautions, when the
professionals removed me from the steamer, I had already become stuck to it. They tore off large chunks of rotting flesh.
I felt a bit sorry as I watched the professionals suppress their physical discomfort and dutifully carry out their tasks.
Such a death was truly horrifying.
If this caused them any psychological trauma, I thought, it should be treated as a workplace injury.
Jessica and the other servants were also rescued. Seeing the emaciated Jessica, I realized that before throwing them in, Tristan
had missed a phone during his search.
It was that missed phone that allowed Jessica and the others to contact the outside world and report to the police.
Watching the servants, along with the police, exhuming Tommy’s body and recounting Tommy’s ordeal in full detail, I felt a
slight sense of relief.
Tommy, my Tommy, would no longer be left to rot in the wilderness.
But even now, I had yet to see a trace of Tommy’s spirit.
Jessica provided a detailed account of Tristan’s actions, even describing how he had locked Tommy in the storage room without
food.
In the end, Jessica was released after giving her testimony. She had played a key role in the investigation, yet she wasn’t the
instigator nor involved in the abuse and murder.
Perhaps feeling guilty, she bought a cemetery plot for Tommy and buried Tommy’s ashes there.
Even though she had once slandered me and caused my death, I still floated in front of her, thanking her, even though she
couldn’t hear me.
“Thank you, for giving Tommy a place to rest.”
