“Ava… Ava…”
Kieran murmured my name, then immediately pushed through the crowd to my bedside.
Looking at my pale, rigid body, covered in silver burns, devoid of any living essence.
Kieran’s heart suddenly twisted into knots.
He reached out with trembling hands to check if I still had any breath, but accidentally touched our daughter’s bruised face.
Almost instinctively, he gathered her into his arms.
The man’s eyes burned red as he shouted at the crowd of onlookers:
“Healer! Where is the healer?!”
The crowd began to stir.
Soon several healers and their assistants stepped forward, guiding Kieran toward a treatment room.
He carefully placed our unconscious daughter on the bed.
Floating in the air above them, I finally felt some relief.
Looking at the uncontrollable panic on Kieran’s face, I found it darkly amusing.
All of this was his doing, wasn’t it?
Just last night, he had the chance to save me from the rogue wolves.
My heart ached with the blockage of emotions. I bent down to gently kiss my daughter’s forehead, my tears falling onto her face.
My daughter seemed to feel my tears and made a faint sound.
“Mom… not hurt…”
