Dylan was stunned for a moment, then let out a mocking laugh. “Break up? Can you really bear to leave me? I’ll grant your wish
this time. Think it over. If you leave now, we’ll never be able to get back together.
I nodded. “That’s for the best.”
I agreed without hesitation. But as I was about to leave, Dylan panicked. He called my name and said, “You shall talk to my
pasents about this. Don’t say that I’ve mistreated you.”
I didn’t turn back. “There’s no need for me to say anything. Your parents are dead.”
The room fell silent. Then, Dylan let out an animal–like roar. “What kind of joke is this? How can you say such a thing?”
Lauren added, “Andrew and Sally treat you better than their daughter. Saying that will break their hearts.”
Seeing that Dylan was still in denial, I smiled faintly. “You can go to the police station and ask whether it’s true. Anyway, we’ve
already broken up. So, your family’s business is no longer my concern.”
I turned to leave.
Unexpectedly, Dylan chased after me. He forced me to apologize and insisted on taking me to confront his parents.
I didn’t want to go, but I couldn’t resist his strength as he dragged me into the car.
